  • UAE: Dubai: Department of Economic Development website wins 'Best Government Website'

    www.dubaided.gov.ae adjudged best among 27 websites of government entities

    The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) website (www.dubaided.gov.ae) has been adjudged as the 'Best Government Website' by Dubai E-Government.

    The DED website was selected for its ease of navigation, customer-friendly initiatives and regularly updated information from 27 websites of government entities in Dubai.

  • UAE:Dubai eGovernment receives accolades at annual Mobile & Wireless World Awards program in Florida

    Dubai eGovernment was one of the finalists at the 'Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless' Awards Program organized recently by Computerworld's Mobile & Wireless World in Orlando, Florida.

    Dubai eGovernment was chosen as the finalist in the 'Managing Cellular Mobile Data' category which recognises best practices for building and managing PDA-based mobile networks designed to remain compatible with enterprise needs on a long-term basis.

  • UK government seeks e-procurement best practice

    The UK government has launched a global survey into public sector procurement practices to help inform European e-government strategies.

    The results will be released at the EU Ministerial E-Government Conference in November. The event, being held in Manchester, is one of the key events of the UK's presidency of the European Union.

    Senior procurement specialists at all levels of government are invited to visit the procurement survey website and complete the online survey by 16 September.

  • UK: Wandsworth's website is best in London

    A detailed study of local council websites has confirmed that Wandsworth's is in the elite performers for the fourth year running.

    The independent assessment of e-government by the Society for Information Technology Managers (Socitm) ranked Wandsworth's website in the top 20 nationwide for the fourth year in a row.

  • UK: Your London.gov.uk wins award for web accessibility

    Your London developed by London Connects, has won a Visionary Design Award for Best News and Information Site.

    The Visionary Design Awards are hosted by the National Library for the Blind (NLB) and took place on 2 March 2005 in London. The Award scheme recognises the efforts of organisations that ensure content is accessible to visually impaired people. It is part of an ongoing campaign by the NLB to encourage website publishers and designers to consider access technology, such as magnification, text to speech and refreshable Braille, when designing their sites.

  • UN Honour For Bahrain

    Bahrain today made history winning the UN Integrated Workflow Management System (IWMS) Award. The global honour acknowledges the Kingdom’s Zajel e-massaging national project. A ceremony was held today at the UN General Assembly headquarters marking the tenth anniversary of the UN Public Service Award (UNPSA).

    United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Sha Zukang and incumbent UN General Assembly President Incumbent Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser co-patronised the ceremony. Over 500 representatives countries vying for the award, ministers and officials in charge of e-Government programmes attended.

  • US: RI.gov Maintains Fourth Place Ranking in the Center for Digital Government’s Best of the Web

    Rhode Island’s official state website, www.RI.gov, has won top honors, ranking fourth among the country’s best websites in the national Best of the Web competition by the Center for Digital Government. This is the second year in a row that the Web site has received a fourth-place ranking in the awards competition.

    The 2012 Best of the Web recognizes the most innovative state Web portals. Sites are judged on overall efficiency, economy, functionality and design. The review is conducted by the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies.

  • US: Former e-gov administrator launches cloud best practices site

    A government plan to save 15 percent to 20 percent of the federal information technology budget through cloud computing is an achievable goal, the nation's former e-government administrator told Nextgov on Tuesday.

    But those savings can be realized only if agencies commit to reforming the way they manage data and processes, not simply the technology that houses that data, said Karen Evans, who ran the Office of Managements and Budget's information technology shop during the Bush administration and was often called the nation's unofficial chief information officer.

  • US: Maryland Tops the List of Best State Government Websites

    For the first time in state history, Maryland’s state government website was named the best in the country by the Center for Digital Government’s Best of Web competition.

    The Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government, recognizes city, county, and state governments for their work engaging citizens online and providing cutting-edge Web services with The Best of the Web awards.

  • US: Mississippi: MS.gov among nation's best government websites

    Mississippi's government website is among the best government websites in the nation.

    The Centers for Digital Government ranked MS.gov fourth in its 2015 Best of the Web competition.

    The award was given to the state for enhancements made to improved personalization and usability.

  • US: My Maine Connection Online Service Recognized With National Best Fit Integrator Award

    The My Maine Connection online service (www.Maine.gov/mymaineconnection) was recently honored with a prestigious Best Fit Integrator Award given to Maine Information Network, the State of Maine’s private sector eGovernment portal provider. The award, given by the Center for Digital Government in the Health and Human Services category, highlights the service as a facilitator for process or operational changes within a state agency.

    The My Maine Connection online service has moved several processes related to state assistance programs into an electronic format, resulting in reduced paperwork and significant efficiencies for the state. The service has been well received by the public, providing an online option for benefits pre-screening and a secure and efficient way to remain compliant with program rules.

  • US: New Jersey: Howell Takes Two Awards in Municipal Website Study

    Township had best 'citizen-centric' site, panel finds

    Howell had the county's most "citizen-centric" website, according to a panel of graduate students and their professors at Monmouth University, who presented the township with an award at an April 28 ceremony.

    Awards were given out to several municipalities – Colts Neck took the top honors for best overall municipal site – at a presentation organized by Monmouth's Public Policy graduate program.

  • US: New Jersey: Middletown Municipal Website Named Best in State

    Middletown Township has the best municipal website in the state, according to a new e-government poll released by the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

    The Monmouth University Polling Institute and the Monmouth University Graduate Project evaluated 540 municipal websites as part of the New Jersey E-Government Study. Middletown’s site ranked number one for having the best combination of content availability and ease of use. The township also earned top marks in the individual categories of ease of use, citizen interaction and content.

  • US: New Jersey: Morris County named a best case example of e-government

    Morris County has been cited as one of four examples from across the country of “innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness in the areas of electronic government,” in Facing our Future, a report by a volunteer leadership group analyzing the long-term fiscal challenges facing all levels of New Jersey government in the next five years.

    The report names MCUrgent, Morris County’s shared emergency information network, as an example of how technology was essential in modernizing government operations and enabling government to meet 21st century challenge and change. MCUrgent is used by the Morris County Office of Emergency Management, and municipalities that have been trained, to quickly disseminate information to the public during widespread emergencies.

  • US: RI.gov Wins Two Awards, Including Its First for Best Government Mobile Application

    Official portal of the State of Rhode Island awarded a Silver Award of Distinction in the Communicator Awards Competition for the third consecutive year and its first MobileWebAward for Best Government Mobile Application

    Rhode Island’s official state web portal, www.RI.gov, was recently honored for dynamic design, receiving a Silver Communicator Award of Distinction by the International Academy of the Visual Arts. The Communicator Awards program is one of the largest and most competitive awards program in the nation for creative professionals. Judging is based on a site conveying standards of excellence in marketing and communications. This is the third consecutive year that RI.gov has been recognized in the Communicator Awards Competition.

  • US: Texas.gov Honored for eGovernment Innovation

    Website recognized for plain language and Web 2.0 features

    Texas.gov, the official website of the State of Texas, proudly celebrates its first anniversary as the recipient of five awards from institutions honoring superior efforts by government. Texas.gov received accolades from the eGovernment industry for its use of plain language, search-centric design, action-based navigation, Web 2.0 technologies, and outstanding marketing campaign.

  • US: Utah: 5 Best Practices for Open Local Government

    Utah continues to win accolades for its online presence, adding honors late last month for its Utah Connect Portal, which unites Utah-related social media feeds from all levels of government. The American Council for Technology-Industry Advisory Council recognized Utah Connect for excellence in social media with an Excellence.gov award.

    But students at the University of Utah want to make sure those high standards are upheld by local governments in Utah too. Focusing specifically on open government practices, the Honors College Think Tank on Transparency and Privacy recently evaluated 16 local governments, discovering a wide variety of policies now in use.

  • US: Utah.Gov Connect Portal Recognized With Excellence.Gov Award

    Utah Social Media Portal Best in the Nation

    Utah.Gov, the official website of the state of Utah, and the Utah Connect Portal were selected as a winner of the Excellence.Gov Award for Excellence in Innovation: Social Media. The American Council for Technology-Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) recognizes outstanding government programs that use information technology in an innovative manner to improve the ability of government to service citizens more effectively.

    The Utah Connect Portal, http://utah.gov/connect, aggregates all federal, state, and local government social media feeds in the state of Utah to make it easier for citizens to discover new information and interact with state and local government agencies. The Connect Portal has social media content in Utah from Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, blogs, Slideshare, Flickr, and YouTube.
