  • Iran's ICT minister talks role of E-government in battling COVID-19

    E-health, e-commerce, e-banking and development of the national information network helped Iran to survive the COVID-19 pandemic, the country's Minister of Information and Communication Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said at the meeting with parliamentary deputies of the various ministries, Trend reports citing IRNA.

    'The core capacity of the National Intelligence Network has increased from 680 Gbps to 18,000 Gigabits per second in the last 2 years, Jahromi said.

  • ‘Over 5m Iranians have e-documents’

    Over 5 million Iranians have got electronic documents up to now, the head of Information Technology Organization of Iran (ITO) Amir Nazemi announced on his Twitter account, Mehr reported on Monday.

    Until December 16, 5.138 million citizens benefited from e-government services, he said.

    Through registration of smart card for gasoline the electronic documents are activated for citizens, he explained.

  • Armenia and Iran mull creation of a joint smart city

    Armenia and Iran will explore the opportunities to create a joint smart city.

    The issue was discussed during a meeting between Armenia’s acting Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan and an Iranian delegation led by Mehdi Eliassi, Vice President for Science and Technology, which also comprised Deputy Minister of Communications, Chairman of the Information Technology Organization Amir Nazemi Ashani, members of the Iranian Parliament, representatives of a number of large Iranian companies.

  • AZ: Azerbaijan, Iran launch new infrastructure project with online technology

    Azerbaijan and Iran have launched a new transportation-related infrastructure project known as “e-TIR,” which envisages the full electronic transit operations at the Astara border crossing between the two Caspian region neighbors, Caspian News reported on Friday.

    “The advantages of this online project are competitive and mechanized exchange of goods, accelerated transportation, reduction of violations and the elimination of administrative bureaucracy,” head of Iran's Customs Administration Mehdi Mirashrafi said.

  • Development Projects of Iran Regarding E-government

    On Friday, the head of the administration e-government development center said that about 23 priority projects have to be implemented by various organizations for promoting e-government in Iran. Some of the projects on the agenda include e-tax, e-signature, e-health, and smart identity, said Sharareh Bakhtjou.

    She explained that the projects would be completed by the end of March 2021. She added that the implementation of these projects would not only solve the problems of the citizens but also improve the e-government. She said that a working group comprising of our members was already formed for monitoring the activities of e-government.

  • e-Government in Iran Improving Gradually

    A broader range of activities online has been made easier with 100 government services added to the National Information Network, says a deputy at the Information Technology Organization, Reza Bagheri Asl.

    The National Information Network was launched in August 2016 as an alternative independent network with content compatible with Islamic values. It facilitates access to indigenously produced content, cuts costs and improves the quality of services offered to Iranian Internet users.

  • E-Health Project defined in Iran

    Head of Health Ministry’s IT Management Research & Development Center said here Saturday Electronic Health Files would be issued for entire nation up to year-end.

    Dr. Hossein Riyazi added in an interview with CITNA, “Providing the required software for the Health Centers in a bid to enable them to send their data to the Health Ministry and the required software at the Health Ministry to collect the received data are among the moves at process currently in that respect.”

  • IR: Smart Techs, IoT Help Tackle Tehran Urban Problems

    Smart technologies, the application of Internet of Things and moves to establish smart cities can help combat major urban problems, including the suffocating air pollution and agonizing traffic congestions, the head of Tehran Municipality's Information and Communications Technology Department said.

    Mohammad Farjoud added that modern technologies can be harnessed for tackling these and many other problems afflicting megacities like Tehran, TM’s website reported.

    The first phase of e-government services project in Iran officially came on stream on Wednesday under the title of ‘Mobile Government’.

    The project aims to facilitate some government services, reduce unnecessary expenses and ease traffic jam, which is the main cause of air pollution in big cities.

    It is based on the National Information Network, an ongoing project to develop a secure and stable infrastructure network in the country.

    An online portal has been launched by the Department of Environment to facilitate the process of obtaining hunting permits and monitor their issuance.

    "This is in line with Iran's e-government policies and it has a number of advantages," Ali Teymouri, director of the Conservation, Hunting and Fishing Office, was quoted as saying by ISNA.

  • IR: E-Commerce Development Center to launch electronic signature next month

    E-Commerce Development Center of Iran will launch electronic signature system for order registration process in the next Iranian calendar month (starts on September 23), the chairman of the center announced in a press conference held at the place of the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade on Sunday.

    Elaborating on the activities of E-Commerce Development Center, Ali Rahbari said this center is active in three sectors of e-commerce, e-government, and electronic certificate.

  • IR: E-government goal realized by 62.8%: official

    The goal of e-government has been realized by 62.8 percent in the country before the first Iranian month of Farvardin, which began on March 21, the IT executive council secretary announced, Mehr reported on Saturday.

    Reza Baqeri Asl said that 105 organizations have been monitored and their general score in different parts are: e-portal 84%, presence at web 66.9%, interaction services 70.44%, transaction service 70.22% and service integration 50.19 percent.

  • IR: E-Health Records Cover 70% of Population

    Electronic health files have been created for 60%-70% of the people in every province on average, according to deputy health minister Iraj Harirchi.

    “Electronic health files or the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is a prerequisite for the Health Ministry’s family physician project, and we are trying to extend its coverage to 100% by September-end,” he was quoted as saying by ISNA.

  • IR: E-voting viable if Guardian Council approves so

    Alireza Barati, deputy Interior Minister for e-governance and IT, has said the interior ministry is ready to hold electronic voting in the forthcoming presidential election if the Guardian Council gives the go-head.

    “Electronic voting offers advantages such as speed, accuracy and precision and we are ready to use it in the upcoming presidential election provided that the Guardian Council approves it,” ISNA quoted Barati as saying on Monday.

  • IR: Electronic ID Scheme Ends in March 2019

    S ecretary of Iran High Council of Cyberspace says every Iranian will have a smart ID card, a cyber identification number, and a digital signature by March 2019.

    According to the council’s website, Abolhassan Firouzabadi said, “Smart ID cards, cyber identification numbers and digital signatures are key to establishing and promoting e-governance.

    Every real and legal person should have a cyber identification number.”

    The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has asked Majlis (the Iranian parliament) to help expand e-government in state-run organization, Mehr reported on Monday.

    Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi discussed the issues during the visit of Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to the ICT ministry on Monday morning.

    Kashan Citizenship Card has been selected among the top five projects lined up for the third WeGO Smart Sustainable City Awards, the mayor of the historic city in Isfahan Province announced.

    “According to the Secretariat of Awards, Kashan Citizenship Card, along with other top projects, has been recognized on the WeGO website and will be cited in a top ICT journal,”Seyyed Mohammad Nazem Razavi was also quoted as saying by Kashan Municipality’s official website.

  • IR: National Debate on Improving ICT Accessibility for Disabled

    Recommendations of a two-day expert meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Education, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Organization, the State Welfare Organization, UNECSO, and academia and NGOs working in the field of disabilities, will be presented to Iranian policy makers to foster greater inclusion of persons with disabilities in the economy and the social milieu.

    The meeting on January 24 was a joint initiative of the UNESCO Tehran office and the Iranian National Commission of UNESCO, on the development of a national policy to introduce ICT accessibility for persons with disabilities.
