A new electronic payment option in Nebraska is making it easier for workers to pay back unemployment debt. The new online portal streamlines the collection process for the Department of Labor, and expedites funds being returned to the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund, used to pay benefits. Workers who have payments due can access the online portal through their NEworks account.
“We are very optimistic for the future of payment processing,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin. “This enhancement allows workers to pay back overpayments using credit/debit cards or electronic checks, and also accommodates recurring payments. Collaborating with Nebraska Interactive has expanded our payment options, making reconciliation much more accessible.”
Brent Hoffman, the General Manager of Nebraska Interactive commented, “Our Common Checkout Interface is a fully responsive payment processing system which integrates with any back-end system, allowing for mobile and online payments. We supply the PCI Compliant pages ensuring that no sensitive payment information is ever stored on local hardware or transferred over government networks. Once payment is submitted, the user receives a payment confirmation email which notifies them of their balance or status.”
