The use of smart poles in Pasir Gudang will increase the city’s safety and security, says Pasir Gudang mayor Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman.
He said the project – which involves the city’s industries – was one of the improvements being discussed by Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG).
“The smart pole will be provided and maintained by various industries.
“Each pole will be equipped with LED lights, security and surveillance CCTV systems, smart sensors and loudspeakers.
“It will be connected to the MBPG control room for the purpose of surveillance and safety, pollution monitoring, usage of renewable energy and Internet of Things (IOT) for real-time data collection,” the mayor said when contacted.
He added that the council had worked with other government-linked companies such as Pemodalan Darul Ta’zim and Kumpulan Prasarana Johor Sdn Bhd to share information on the use of solar panels and fibre optics with the industries in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
Asman Shah said the local council was planning to unveil the Pasir Gudang Local Plan 2030 for the people to see MBPG’s future plan and give their feedback.
“This is in line with the Johor Smart City Blueprint 2030 by PLANMalaysia (Federal Department of Town and Country Planning).
“Each development is based on seven innovative components: smart governance, smart people, smart living, smart mobility, smart economy, smart environment and smart digital infrastructure.
“This is some of the information that we have shared with industry players at the recent ‘Program Mesra Industri 2022’, which is one of our annual programmes,” he added.
Asman Shah said the programme was one way for the local council and industries to get to know each other better, especially regarding the latest technology that could be used.
“We wanted to share our ideas and solutions for some of the issues and improvements with the industries in line with changes brought on by the Industrial Revolution 4.0,” he said.
