The Maharashtra government's infrastructure development efforts have received a significant boost following the Union Cabinet's approval for the establishment of the Dighi Port Industrial Area as an industrial smart city in Raigad district.

According to a Free Press Journal report, located 55 km east of Dighi Port, the proposed industrial smart city will span 6,056 acres and involve an investment of Rs 5,469 crore. The project is anticipated to attract investments worth Rs 38,000 crore and create approximately 109,185 jobs, making it a key driver of economic growth in the region.

Khurpia farm in Uttarakhand's Kichha will be turned into a smart industrial city under the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor, with a Rs 6,180 crore investment. Covering 1,002 acres, it is expected to create 75,000 jobs. The industrial hub will focus on automobile, engineering, and fabrication sectors.

In a major boost to the industrial development of Uttarakhand, the Khurpia farm in Kichha of Udham Singh Nagar district is set to be developed as a smart industrial city under the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor. The project, which involves an investment of Rs 6,180 crore, will span 1,002 acres and is expected to provide direct employment to 75,000 people.

The Union Cabinet, on Wednesday, approved a major project to build 12 new industrial smart cities across 10 states, with a budget of Rs 28,602 crore to boost domestic manufacturing in India to revolutionise the industrial landscape, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.

"The move is set to transform the industrial landscape of the country, creating a robust network of industrial nodes and cities that will significantly boost economic growth and global competitiveness," the Union minister said while briefing the media about the decisions taken at the Union cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved a project to establish an Industrial Smart City at Zaheerabad in Sangareddy district. The project has been proposed as part of the 12 Industrial Smart Cities which will be established as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) with an estimated investment of Rs 28,602 crore.

The industrial smart city in Zaheerabad will be developed at a cost of Rs.2,361 crore as a part of the Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC). Target sectors for the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City have been identified as automobile, electrical equipment, food processing, machinery and equipment, metals and non-metallic based industries, transport equipment.
