The Urban Administration and Development department (UADD) has bagged the national e-governance award in "Gold" category for implementation of an innovative software system that ensures transparency in scrutinising building plans, in Indore Municipal Corporation.

The award was given by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, during the national e-governance conference held recently at Kochi in Kerala, an official release said today.

The prestigious award was handed over by Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar to UADD Commissioner Sanjay Shukla and Indore Mayor Krishna Murari Moghe.

UADD secured the award under the category of "Innovative Use of Technology in E-Governance" for the implementation of the Automated Building Permission Approval System (ABPAS).

"ABPAS has been fully implemented in IMC and building plans are now being scrutinised by the software which leaves no scope for manual intervention and ensures total transparency in the approval of maps," the release said.

Buoyed by the success of ABPAS, UADD has decided to implement this system in civic bodies of Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain and Bhopal by March 2014.

In the second stage, the system will be implemented in all the municipal corporations of the state.

The award comprises individual certificates and a cash prize of Rs two lakh.
