The city has scored second rank in Punjab in the 'Digital India Week' celebration for providing services to the residents under e-governance. While Muktsar ranked first, Patiala managed to get third spot.

Deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal said that a letter in this regard was received by them from the additional secretary, central department of electronics and information technology, that stated that an award function would be held on December 28, 2015, at India Habitat Center, New Delhi. The award would be given by Union minister (communications and information technology) Ravi Shankar Prasad and the day would be celebrated as 'Good Governance Day'.

SDM Raikot Harpreet Singh Sudan and district information officer Kashmir Singh would represent the district at the function.

Notably, the 'Digital India Week' was celebrated from July 1-7 and the program was organized at Bachat Bhavan in the mini secretariat where employees from different departments were given orientation about the Digital India project and related information.
