Any citizen can download the copy of the certificate by depositing the requisite fee.

In a major relief to the citizen and to stop them from coming to the municipal office for obtaining death or birth certificate, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has initiated the process of issuing the same online.

According to the leader of house in the NDMC, Vijay Prakash Pandey, the process of online issue of birth and death certificate has been initiated. “With the inauguration of this process, citizen need not run from pillar to post seeking birth and death certificate. After the online process begins, all birth and death certificates registered after 2003-04 can be obtained through e-process,” he said. Mr Pandey described the whole initiative as a major achievement of the corporation, which is in tune with the digitisation initiative being promoted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He explained that the QR (quick response) code technique is being used for the online process which allows citizens to obtain birth or death certificate by paying the fixed fees through debit or credit card by visiting the mcdonline.gov.in website. “This online process would save time, cost, and energy of citizens in obtaining birth or death certificate. This is a step in the direction of the e-governance digital India programme. It would bring transparency in the process and it doesn’t leave any scope for corruption,” added Mr Pandey. A well placed source said that once the online facility for issuance of birth and death certificates is started, citizen can download ‘birth and death certificates’ without visiting any designated centre for this purpose. Any citizen can download the copy of the certificate by depositing the requisite fee.
