To assist consumers in paying their electricity bill online, phase-1, four-day awareness-cum-demonstration campaign of online electricity bill payment organized by department of power, Dimapur commenced Wednesday, in Dimapur which was officially launched by additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Dimapur, Sarah Jamir.

The phase-1, campaign will be held at Dimapur, Chumukedima and Kohima and will culminate on September 9.

Launching the awareness-cum-demonstration programme, ADC Dimapur, Sarah Jamir pointed out waiting in a queue as one of the reason of not getting enough revenue collection in the power system. She was optimistic that with the system of online payment, without waiting in the queue and without spending money for going to the power department bill section, one can pay the bill with just a click. She reiterated that it would save time, money and help increase the revenue. Sarah further hoped that the power department would create more awareness programme.

Superintendent engineer, Dimapur electrical circle Imti maintained that power department had introduced online payment last year September yet awareness was not made. It was for this that the programme has been organized so as to create awareness which was of utmost importance for the consumers.

Pamphlets on awareness-cum-demonstration campaign of online electricity bill payment which included how to view and pay bill, how to register customer ID and how to know new consumer ID. Queries and doubts related to the online payment were also clarified during the launching programme.

Awareness and demonstration of online payment counter will be set up at DC office, SDO-3 behind DC office, SDO-1, near PWD office, sub-urban police station DDSC stadium, Burma camp power house and 4th mile police station. Consumers have been requested to avail the opportunity and learn about it. To avail the benefits, one have been asked to bring along a copy of their latest electricity bill (incase of unavailability than they have been asked to bring their consumer number) and debit care/credit card and net banking details.

Department officials would be available for assistance at all electricity bill payment counters.

Second phase campaign will start on September 11 onwards at Mon, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto and Phek.

KOHIMA: The three-day awareness-cum-demonstration campaign of online electricity bill payment organized by department of power Nagaland kicked off with demonstration by Kohima deputy commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan as the first person to pay electricity bill through net banking at Kohima DC’s office on Wednesday.

Soundararajan in his address appreciated the power department for organizing such awareness campaign which was consumer friendly, more transparency and easy to monitor. He said this facility could save time for the consumer to pay bill and contributed to digital India and e-governance.

Chief engineer (D&R) Er. Khose Sale said though Kohima has around 32,000 electricity consumers, only 4,000 consumers with very few consumers using online bill payment although department had launched this facility last December. He said online payment was created for the convenience of public and to increase efficiency.

Er. Sale disclosed that within a month swipe system to pay electric would be introduced. He also reminded that electricity was the nerve centre of government activities whereby awareness must be spread starting from state capital to other parts of the district. He informed that online facility was launched at Dimapur last October, Chumukedima last November, Kohima last December, Tuensang in June and Mon in July and soon to be launched at Wokha, Phek and Zunheboto.

Additional chief engineer (D&R) Er. Keviletuo Yiese in his address informed that the consumer could pay bill online by log onto : www.dopn.gov.in and also without registration through debit card , credit card and net banking. He said awareness campaign would target office goers from September 6-9 in all the government offices as per the availability of man-power from the department. He said the department was planning to organize such awareness campaign in public places in future. Sharing the convenience of this online payment, Er. Yiese said one can sit at home and pay bill without waiting in queue wasting time. However, he said without proper internet connectivity this facility would not be possible. Programme was attended by E.E. Kohima, SDO (sadar), power department officials, DC office staff, public and others. (Correspondent)

IPR: Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Kohima held the launch programme with SDO (technical consultant), VikhozolieNisa briefing the department officials of the online payment procedures, and informed that consumers can log on to www.dopn.gov.in to pay or view their bills. Consumers can also register their mobile number by typing the consumer ID and sending it to 7005405146, and get SMS message for bill and payment confirmation. He further informed that the online payment facility in Kohima, which was started during December, 2016 was available only for consumers under sub division –I.
