Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday directed the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (NMSCDCL) and Nashik Municipal Corporation to speed up the projects under smart city and municipal corporation.

The sources from NMC said that CM has directed the senior IAS officer and chairman of NMSCDCL Sitaram Kunte and the municipal commissioner Radhakrishna Game to speed up all the projects under smart city and some projects under municipal corporation.

The CM has also instructed them to give work orders of all the projects where tender process have been completed.

CM’s directives come ahead of the directorial board meeting of the NMSCDCL which is to be held on Wednesday.

There have been some projects under smart city where tender process has been completed. The directorial board of NMSCDCL is likely to give approval to work orders for the some projects.

When contacted, NMC commissioner Radhakrishna Game confirmed that the CM has directed to speed up the smart city projects and also give work orders where tender process has been completed.

These projects include Godavari riverfront development including beautification and infrastructure component in ABD (Area Based Development) area at a cost of Rs 55.05 crore, redevelopment of major and minor roads with infrastructure utility services including water supply and sewerage in ABD area at a cost of Rs 193.11 crore.

Moreover, the board will also give its approval to give work order to projects like redevelopment of water infrastructure in ABD and surrounding area at a cost of Rs 88.72 crore, civil works under Godavari riverfront development at a cost of Rs 7.26 crroe, automated mechanical gates at Ahilya Bai Holkar Bridge (Victoria Bridge) in the river Godavari at a cost of Rs 19.08 crore.

Other projects under smart city are de-silting work of Godavari river at a cost of Rs 11.61 crore and renovation of Pandit Paluskar Auditorium in the city.

Apart from this, other projects which are to be implemented by the NMC, city bus service. NMC has already floated bids to appoint an agency to buy and operate electric, CNG and diesel buses.

A Hyderabad-based electric bus manufacturing company has submitted a bid to procure and operate electric buses, but NMC has not received response to operate CNG and diesel buses. The sources from NMC said the NMC is studying the bid documents of Hyderabad-based company and it may likely to give work order to this company. Moreover, the electric bus manufacturing company is also likely to showcase its electric bus to the NMC in a day or two.
