Kamalakar instructs officials to issue show cause notices to illegal occupants, clear unauthorised structures
BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Tuesday instructed officials to complete the Smart City works on fast track mode.
The Minister along with District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed and Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Venugopal Reddy conducted review meeting with officials of various departments and contractors to discuss about the Smart City works at the Collectorate here.
Kamalakar said the Centre had selected Hyderabad and Warangal under the Smart City scheme, and Karimnagar got the status because of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s recommendation that Karimnagar replace Hyderabad. Works of package-I, II and III had already started. Eight roads had been laid under package-I and II, he said and instructed officials to issue show cause notices to illegal occupants and remove illegal structures.
Shifting of electricity poles, pipelines, structures, and trees should be done on fast track mode, he said and advised officials to appoint a special committee along with ADs and two AEs to monitor removal and shifting of power poles.
Instructing the officials to lay roads by following the master plan, he said first, the Collectorate road should be developed as a model one. KMC engineers, town planning officials and transco engineers should solve the field level problems. Housing board colony main road, internal roads, drainage construction were taken up with Rs 45 crore under package-III. He also instructed contractors to complete works as early as possible.
Besides 50 smart classrooms, vegetable market, stadium modernisation, tower circle development works would also be taken up. New blocks in the district headquarters hospital would also be constructed with Rs 25 crore.
Works on parks being developed in the circus ground and multipurpose school were under progress, he said and instructed the Collector to complete works within one month.
Minister also instructed officials to prepare DPR (detailed project report) to establish a unit to generate power and gas using garbage. He also wanted the officials to make arrangements to supply 24 hours water to the residents of town.
