A meeting was convened at the Zone D-MC office, under the chairmanship of Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, MC Commissioner and CEO, Ludhiana Smart City Limited (LSCL), to review the progress of different projects under the Smart City Mission. The CEO-LSCL deliberated each project in detail and directed officials to expedite the works.

Sabharwal said: “As on date, 10 projects are under execution. Some of the main projects are ROB-RUB Across the Pakhowal Rail Road Crossing, Retrofitting of Sarabha Nagar Market, Development of Malhar Road as Smart Road, Sidhwan Canal Waterfront (Phase I), Carcass Utilisation Plant, Canal-based Water Supply project for the ABD Area and the Rooftop Solar System.”

He said: “A ‘Letter of Award’ for three projects namely Sidhwan Canal Water Front (Phase II), Chain Link Fencing along Buddha Dariya and Civil Works for installation of compactors at 22 locations covering Ludhiana city, have been issued and the work will commence on all these projects this month.”

He said the cost of three projects was Rs 32 crore and these projects were mainly targeted to curb pollution in water bodies and improve the sanitation facilities in the city and a large population of the city will be benefitted buy them.

The ‘Letter of Award’ for the RGBW lighting under the bridge on the Southern Bypass along the Sidhwan canal, façade lighting at the Zone D Municipal Corporation office, procurement of machinery for C&D waste and equipment for firefighting would be issued shortly, he said.

The CEO-LSCL also held a detailed discussion on the project of Development of Sports Park at Jainpur. He directed the officials engaged in the project to ensure timely completion of all activities so that tenders for the work could be issued at the earliest. He also directed to issue the tenders for refurbishment of the sports facilities at Guru Nanak Stadium (basketball and badminton courts and athletic track) and the construction of semi-Olympic size swimming pool at Rakh Bagh, at the earliest to provide world-class sports facilities for city residents.

The CEO-LSCL asked the concerned team from the MCL and the Project Management Consultant to expedite the project works to ensure timely completion of projects and issue the tenders for remaining works as soon as possible.
