The Panchkula development advisory committee, formed by Haryana assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta, held a meeting with all the newly elected councillors, mayor, deputy commissioner, MC commissioner and deputy commissioner of police, to discuss about making Panchkula a smart city.

During the meeting, seven important points were kept in front of the DC, MC commissioner DCP, mayor and all the newly elected councillors by the Haryana assembly speaker.

Gupta said all the officers and councillors must focus on the seven missions, including removal of illegal encroachment, stray dog, stray cattle issue, pollution, slum, plastic and drug-free Panchkula. These seven formulas will help the district get the smart city tag. Support from the residents is a must.

Issues pertaining to shifting of the dumping ground from the residential area and solid waste management were also discussed.

“The administration, councillors and mayor must chalk out plans to curb all these issues,” said the speaker.

MC commissioner R K Singh said teams have been formed and they are working to remove illegal encroachments in the city. The DCP was asked to appoint all the police post in-charges to support the MC team in removing illegal encroachments and maintain law and order situation.

The MC commissioner also stated that stray dog and cattle issue will also be resolved. Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said 839 sanitation workers and 75 gardeners are working to make Panchkula neat and green.

The DC has been asked to prepare review reports and submit the same to the speaker from time-to-time so that the status of the works can be monitored.
