BS Yediyurappa has directed officials to complete the ongoing Smart City projects at the earliest. On a city tour with cabinet colleagues and officials on Saturday, the CM said that the Rs 930-crore Smart City projects have been taken up in the city including 37 developmental projects.
During a Bengaluru Vision 2020 review meeting, the CM directed the officials to complete the tender process for the high-density corridors by April this year, so that work can be taken up on a priority basis. A 190-km stretch of road will be developed as a part of 12 high-density corridors at a cost of Rs 477 crore. He said that 37 roads were developed under the Smart City project and out of this, only five roads were completed. He asked officials to complete the remaining work by May 31.
The Mysuru Metro line which is being extended from Nayandahalli to Kengeri will be thrown open to the public by June this year. Yediyurappa instructed officials to complete the drainage work in Rajakaluve by February-end. The rejuvenation of Bellandur and Varthur Lakes are to be completed by February 2022. Tree parks at Turahalli (400 acres) will be ready by May-end, while Kadugodi (102 acres) and Machohalli (98 acres) are to be ready by June 2021, according to BSY.
Meanwhile, the CM also asked officials to set up an Environment and Heritage Trust to implement the Experience Bengaluru project. He also asked officials to form special vehicles for the scientific disposal of solid waste management.
