The country’s cleanest city Indore, in a new All India Smart City ranking on Wednesday issued by the central government, adjusted at the first position for its securing 89.24% marks.

“Indore Smart City Developed Limited has secured first place in the overall ranking of the works being done in different categories in all the smart cities of the country” ISCDL’s executive director and IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal said.

Explaining about the ranking and Indore’s position in detail, ISCDL’s CEO Rishabh Gupta said, “The Central Government continuously and closely monitors different projects initiated by the Smart Cities and rank the same on different categories and parameters. Indore has secured first place among all smart cities of the country by securing 124.94 out of 140 marks in the overall ranking”.

He added that Surat (Gujarat) and Udaipur (Rajasthan) have respectively secured the second and third position in the ranking.

In April this year, Indore had jointly won the best city award with Surat for their overall performances in different categories of the important initiatives being implemented in the 100 Smart Cities after the same were evaluated across a gamut of themes like social aspects, governance, culture, urban environment, sanitation, economy, built environment, water and the urban mobility.

On this achievement, senior IMC officials had received citations and mementos from Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri during ‘Smart Cities, Smart Urbanization’ conference held in Surat.
