Union Information Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has asked the officials and the public representatives to work with a future-oriented approach in the Dharamshala Smart City project.

Anurag Thakur was presiding over the meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee 'DISHA' in Dharamshala on Monday. MPs Kishan Kapoor and Indu Goswami, MLAs Bhawani Pathania and Ranveer Nikka were specially present in the meeting.

The Union Minister said that the Central Government has made a provision of Rs 20 lakh crore for KCC loan (Kisan Credit Card) in the General Budget 2023. In this, especially activities related to dairy, animal husbandry and fisheries will be promoted. He said that Amrit Sarovars being built in the district should be developed in a comprehensive manner, so that apart from being useful in water conservation, they also become a source of employment generation. Amrit Sarovar will be helpful in increasing the ground water level and meeting the irrigation and drinking water needs. He said that along with beautification around Amrit Sarovars, also link them with fisheries activities.

Anurag Thakur said that for water conservation, find alternatives to build small dams at narrow places in mountains and valleys. With this, along with water conservation, opportunities for water sports activities will also be created there.

Anurag Thakur said that the year 2023 has been declared as the International Millet Year. In view of this, emphasis should be laid on increasing the production and use of coarse grains in Kangra district as well. He said that work should be done in the direction of linking the self-help groups with the cultivation of coarse grains in the district. Provide good market to their products. He asked schools to consider including coarse cereal products in the mid-day meal considering the nutritional value of coarse cereals.

Anurag Thakur stressed the need for scientific study in the mining leased areas in the district. He said that apart from studying satellite image data, drone surveys should be conducted to see and understand the effects of mining leases in the areas where mining leases have been given in the past years, so that the steps to be taken for the future can be clarified. Are. He directed the officers to share the details of funds collected since 2016 and its proportionate allocation in the concerned areas under the District Mineral Foundation Fund programme.

Anurag Thakur took stock of the progress of development works in the year 2019, 20 and 21 while taking details of the MP Lad Fund. He directed to return the funds released for the works which have not been started during this period due to land dispute or other reasons so that it can be used for other works.

Anurag Thakur asked all public representatives and non-official members of the committee to take stock of the wellness center and telemedicine services prepared by the health department in the district and share the feedback in the next meeting. He emphasized on increasing awareness about the Solar Roof Top Scheme and asked to work towards setting up Solar Villages and Panchayats as a pilot project.

Expressing displeasure over the absence of senior officers of some departments in the meeting and sending junior officers in their place, the Union Minister directed the district administration to seek answers from the absent officers.

In the meeting, MPs Kishan Kapoor and Indu Goswami, MLAs Bhavani Pathania and Ranveer Nikka and non-official members gave their valuable suggestions regarding development works. People's representatives stressed upon everyone to work like a team to implement the schemes at the grassroots level and bring their benefits to every citizen.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jinal assured to ensure complete compliance of the guidelines issued in the meeting. He informed that the administration has made necessary arrangements for marketing the products of self-help groups in the district. These products are being marketed under the Him Era brand. Apart from providing outlets to self-help groups at the airport and hotels, Him Era outlet has also been opened in the Deputy Commissioner's office premises. Apart from this, cultivation of medicinal products like Tulsi, Chamoline, Ashwagandha is being promoted under Mission Dhanvantari.

Him Era brand products manufactured by self-help groups were presented as gifts to Union Ministers and MPs and MLAs in the programme.

Officers of all departments including Superintendent of Police Dr. Khushal Sharma, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Dharamshala Anurag Chandra were present in the meeting.
