Ministry of Health launches online booking service ‘The Record’ on smart patient portal

The online service, which is available in all the ministry’s health centres and hospitals, creates a medical record for each patient.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has launched an online booking service ‘The Record’ on the smart patient portal, an official announced on Saturday.

The new service aims to enable patients, who desire to re-check their health status, to book precise appointments where they will receive an SMS confirming the desired appointment. The service is part of a package of e-services that have been developed to provide comprehensive medical records that include all patients’ laboratory tests, medical reports and drugs taken in order to bring down medical errors and provide easy accessibility to health data via smart devices.

The move is in line with the federal government’s vision to transform into e-government and the ministry’s strategy to upgrade working systems, develop health facilities and ensure accessibility for all people.

The online service, which is available in all the ministry’s health centres and hospitals, creates a medical record for each patient. It is operated by a highly effective and secure system in order to book the appointment and follow up patients’ accounts as well as provide users with easy accessibility to download or print reports and records attached on their accounts. The second phase of the service will cover the rest of the health centres and hospitals, as part of the ministry’s effort to activate smart services and meet the growing needs of customers.

Awad Sagher Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary of the ministry for Support Services Sector, said the e-service is part of the ministry’s initiatives which aim to use the latest technologies to upgrade the ministry’s services and boost customer satisfaction, Al Ketbi added.

Ali Juma Al Ajme, director of Health Information Systems Department at the ministry, praised the new service and said, by using the new smart service, patients can now directly book their preferred doctors after checking the available times and attach more details about their symptoms. Locations of doctors’ clinics are pinned on maps to facilitate arrival.
