Video surveillance company Dahua announced its Heart of City (HOC) New Smart City Framework for city, industrial, and commercial applications at a launch event during the Security China 2018 exhibition.
The Dahua Heart of City is a development engine for smart cities, supported by sensing, intelligence, computing, and ecosystem capabilities the company calls “4 Full,” and uses a construction based on one platform, two centers, and N applications (1+2+N). It can be combined with supporting technologies including AI, deep learning, and IoT to form end-to-end solutions for all areas of smart city operations, according to the announcement.
Dahua Chairman Fu Liquan called the release “an important strategic milestone through deep analysis and understanding of city operations.”
“All of Dahua Technology’s future solutions and business systems will be built around the 1+2+N architecture to improve and enhance its end-to end solution capabilities,” noted Dahua President Li Ke.
The company also recently launched a new physical access control system using facial recognition technology. The apartment outdoor station VTO9341D operates between -20 and 60 degrees Celsius, and meets IP55 water and dust resistance standards, and the IK07 impact resistance standard. The station includes an Intrusion Prevention System, and allows conventional unlocking in case of an emergency.
A 2MP CMOS sensor captures a subject’s face from 0.5 meters to create a high definition color image, and completes recognition and opens the door within 0.5 seconds, the company says. The VTO9341D features Auto Gain Control to enable use in poor lighting conditions, and stores up to 20,000 faces. It can also read Mifare Cards, up to 3,000 fingerprints, and provides a touch-screen key pad for password entry.
Additional features include an audio system for bidirectional communication, and works with the VTS5240B Master Station to forward images to mobile devices for remote unlocking.
Dahua launched a new line of IP cameras with built-in AI facial recognition earlier this year.
