With the aim of providing an interactive interface linking PEIE 's staff with existing and potential investors, and business owners, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) launched recently "Live Chat" service on its website www.peie.om. The service aspires at answering enquiries, providing assistance, welcoming suggestions among other services.

Commenting about the value of this service, Ibtisam Al Farooji, Director of PEIE 's Communication and Investor Services Center explained that Live Chat service plays a vital role in facilitating access to those in charge of customer care at the Communication and Investor Services Centre and hence easing access to the required information on the one hand and raise further awareness on the services offered by PEIE on the other hand. "Besides, the service provides an opportunity to strengthen relations with the existing and potential investors through direct interaction and thereby turn these relations into investments on the ground. The Live Chat service offers a great value to PEIE in the current digital and e-marketing era," Al Farooji pointed out.

The service is available on weekdays from Sunday to Thursday, from 7.30 am until 14.30 pm. Any messages received outside of these hours will be answered to within 48 hours after receipt. "To serve various segments of the business community inside and outside the Sultanate, the service facilitates access to the various services and aims at providing transparency between the parties involved including visitor to the website and the centre's representative in charge. Prior to the official launch, the experimental phase of Live Chat service was available for four months and a great range of enquiries were received from Oman and abroad. Most of the enquiries focused on how to initiate investment in the industrial estates that fall under the umbrella of PEIE in addition to the Knowledge Oasis Muscat and Al Mazunah Free Zone," she added.

It should be noted that PEIE has adopted an integrated strategy for IT since 2007, which has resulted in a quantum leap and acceleration of business. In recognition for its eGovernment contribution in the industrial sector in Oman, PEIE received the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment for the Best eProject Individual for the Estate Management System project (EMS). In recent years, PEIE launched various electronic initiatives to strengthen relations with its clients including the monthly eNewsletter that aims enlightening subscribers with up-to-date news of interest to industrialists, which enable them to have an overview on the current local industrial scene and the major developments triggered in the sector.
