The Sultanate captured two awards at the public sector for the best technology project in the Arab world at 17th version of Sheikh Salim al- Ali IT Awards.

The awards organising committee announced in Kuwait that ‘Advanced Manpower System’ of the Ministry of Manpower and “ Governmental Cloud’ of Information Technology Authority won two awards at the best technology project in the Arab world category.

The e-services system of the Ministry of Manpower was activated to meet the needs of citizens, business owners, private sector employees and job seekers as well. The system includes a number of channels for communication, such as the Ministry’s website, the mobile application, the ‘Sanad’ centres. The system comes in a bid by the Ministry to transform to e-government.

The Governmental Cloud of ITA provides a common infrastructure for public organisations to develop their e-services in a way that promotes the e-government trend in the Sultanate.

The infrastructure includes servers, networks, data warehouses and applications. The Governmental Cloud now includes 7 governmental projects that saved about OMR4.2m.

Sheikh Salim al- Ali IT Award was established in 2001 with the aim of supporting the e-knowledge and development of human resources capabilities in the field of IT. The winners’ honouring ceremony will be organised on November 29 at Bayan Palace under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait.
