eGovernment Forschung seit 2001 | eGovernment Research since 2001

Malta Information Technology has launched a new project – Public Services Online – aimed at enhancing knowledge and take-up of eGovernment services.

The project, co-financed through the European Social Funds, is being coordinated by MITA together with other stakeholders including CDRT, various Ministries and Digitaliseringsstyrelsen (the Danish Government Digital Agency).

The project is divided into three pillars:

  • Research on why citizens use or do not use eGovernment services and what are the features that they would like to see in such services;
  • Training to various public sector officers who on a daily basis interact with citizens or businesses at their respective ministries or departments. Moreover, a workshop will be organised for key decision makers within Government to discuss the strategy ahead for Government in leveraging technology for simplification of public administration and the provisioning of the next generation of eGovernment services;
  • An awareness campaign on a number of eGovernment services, including tutorials on how to use such services.

Out of the hundreds of eGovernment services, 26 services that target citizens as well as businesses have been selected. These include eGovernment services from the public registry, ETC, Inland Revenue and VAT, agriculture, social security and the servizz.gov site.

For more information on the eServices chosen for this project please see here.

There will be an educational campaign, aimed at the general public to increase the citizens’ awareness on the availability of a number of eServices.

The public, including businesses, will be informed of a selection of eServices which are currently available and will be guided on how to access and use these eServices.

To facilitate the use of the selected eServices a number of self-help video tutorials will be created. These videos will offer a step-by-step guide to citizens where it will be explained how one can access and navigate the eServices. Leaflets detailing the use of the eServices will also be distributed door-to-door.

This campaign will be promoted from May to June of this year, on TV, radio, billboards and other means.
