Digital transformation has become a necessity for any public or private institution aspiring for survival and success in an increasingly digital world, Deputy Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Eng. Qussai Al-Shatti has said.

Speaking at the 5th E-Government Forum (EGOV5), which is held under the theme of 'Digital Transformation,' Al-Shatti said the theme of the forum reflects the urgently-needed shift towards digitalization at all public and private sector entities.

"Digital transformation has become a must for institutions seeking to retain its productivity, growth and development now and in the future," he said.

He stressed this transformation is necessary for all production, operation and administrative departments of different domains and providers of diverse services or products.

Al-Shatti identified three factors for the success of such a comprehensive transformation: improving administrative, technical, planning, operation abilities of IT departments; restructuring of workflow at all government agencies to rid of unnecessary procedures; equipping the institutions with the world-class technical tools and equipment required for offering high-quality and integrated digital services.

He pointed out that the administrative development should increase the efficiency of staff and work procedures and tools.

For his part, General Manager of the forum co-organizer, NoufEXPO, Yousef Al-Marzouq expressed confidence that Kuwait has the required human and financial resources for this transformation.

"We all sure that our local and overseas technological partners will spare no effort to provide us with any experience and technology we need to ameliorate the government services," he said.

He suggested that the digital transformation would help develop all production, commercial and infrastructure sectors.

It is the natural path that the government should take for creating a better future to its citizens, he said.

The three-day forum is organized by NoufEXPO, in collaboration with the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), and under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

It focuses on Digital Transformation as the journey that government agencies should undergo to be able to achieve the objective of the e-government program. EGOV5 tackles wide array of key issues related to the digital transformation, its requirements, its success factors, and the pitfalls or risks that need to be considered and mitigated along the way. It targets management and technical staff of IT government agencies.

It aims to provide a better understanding of digital transformation and its mandating factors; help professionals understand and mitigate the risks or and pitfalls expected along the way; and provide expert views from leading global IT, business, and consulting vendors who managed to drive other e-government organizations forward.

It also meant to explore new technology trends that affect e-Services and hence, implementation of the e-government program of the State of Kuwait how these trends may help digital transformation.
