The Ministry of Finance topped the list of e-Government development in 2017.

A report on the evaluation and ranking of Việt Nam’s e-Government development in 2017 was announced as part of the National Conference on e-Government in Hà Nội on Thursday.

At the event, a representative of the Việt Nam Digital Communications Association announced the evaluation and ranking for three categories including ministries and ministerial-level agencies; governmental agencies and centrally-run cities and provinces.

Accordingly, in the category of ministries and ministerial-level agencies, the Ministry of Finance led with 0.71 points; followed by the Ministry of Science and Technology (0.692 points) and the Ministry of Justice (0.678 points).

Meanwhile, in the category of governmental agencies, Việt Nam Social Security led with 0.814 points.

In the list of centrally-run provinces and cities, the central province of Huế topped the list with 0.727 points.

Speaking at an event organised by the association and IDG, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyễn Minh Hồng said that the application of information technology and the building of e-Government had faced many concerns from the Party and State.

The Government had a specific plan to implement a new resolution on a number of key tasks and solutions to develop e-Government in 2018-20 period, with a vision towards 2025, he noted. The Government is preparing to set up the National Committee for e-Government in which the Vietnamese Prime Minister will be its chairman, he added.

The deputy minister also said that the Ministry of Information and Communications together with other ministries, departments and localities had actively implemented and achieved results in the application of information technology and building of e-Government. However, the results have not reached expectations, he said.

The deputy minister added that the report is a foundation for ministries, departments and localities to grasp the current status and relative ranking of technology application in their agencies.

From that, agencies will make plans to promote the application of information technology and improve the effectiveness of management and the reforms of administrative procedures to enhance the e-Government development index of Việt Nam
