The Vietnam Drug Administration under the Ministry of Health yesterday launched the data bank Drugbank.vn with information of over 10,000 domestically circulated medicines.

Moreover, the bank has data of 41 drug producers, distributors and pharmacists with practicing certificates and data which can aid users to look for information easily in computers or smart phones.

At the event, Deputy Health Minister Truong Quoc Cuong said that the medicine has a data bank to promote e-government and contribute to more effective drug management.

The bank will help managers to keep track to medicine history and businesses as well as two-way interaction to update information to help health watchdog to check distribution and circulation of medicine quickly.

For physicians, the bank helps to access data bank fully about all circulated medicines in the country.

A resident can easily get access to knowledge of how to use drug safely and effectively and search for the origin, price of drug and system of GPP-standard pharmacies.

In addition to US Food and Drug Administration, Canadian Ministry of Health and Indian Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, the Vietnam Drug Administration is one of the national heath authorities to have drug data bank, said Head of Drug Administration Vu Tuan Cuong.
