The government will develop a pool of 30,000 international standard IT (Information Technology) professionals under a World Bank funded project.

The project called “Leveraging ICT: Growth, Employment and Governance”, under the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), will create 30,000 direct employment and 120,000 indirect employment in the country within five years, ICT Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan said at a seminar yesterday.

The seminar was titled Capacity Building and Human Resource Development of IT or IT Enabled Services (ITES) organisations.

The development of skilled IT literate manpower with sufficient quality will meet both national and international demands and build a substantial number of skilled manpower in the country, Khan said.

Md Rezaul Karim, project director of Leveraging ICT: Growth, Employment and Governance, Sheikh Amjad Hossain, project director of Capacity Building on ITEE Management Service, and ANM Safiqul Islam, project director of Support to Development of Kaliakor High-Tech Park, gave presentations on their projects.
