Jakarta City Parliament has not discussed the implementation of e-budgeting system in 2014 budget management, causing Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki T Purnama, disappointed.

“What should we say if parliament does not want? We also cannot suppress Regional Working Unit (SKPD) to follow our procedures,” said Basuki, to reporters at City Hall, Tuesday (10/22).

Besides e-budgeting system, parliament is also not yet discussing bylaw related with One-Roof Integrated Service (PTSP) and goods procurement through e-catalog system.

The Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (in bahasa Indonesia, BMKG) collects data on weather, climate and earthquakes from more than 200 observation stations all over Indonesia. Weather, climate and earthquake data is dependent on geographic position, is time sensitive, and often relates to global phenomena. Effective collection of this data enables BMKG to provide weather, climate, earthquake and tsunami information services to Indonesian government departments, businesses and citizens.

In addition to these above main functions, recently BMKG has been appointed by UNESCO as one of the Regional Tsunami Service Providers together with India and Australia, and also appointed by World Meteorological Organisation as a Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre (TCWC).

Taking forward its vision of a more innovative, accountable and transparent government, Indonesia has embarked on developing e-government cooperation with South Korea.

Dr. Ashwin Sasongko, Director-General of ICT Application at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (KOMINFO) explains, “Minister of Bureaucratic Reform, Azwar Abubakar, on his visit to Korea three months ago, observed the central importance of e-governance for bureaucratic reform. After discussing with the Minister for ICT, Tifatul Sembiring, they agreed to develop cooperation with Korea on e-governance”.

Two years since the state government decided to go for compulsory biometric attendance systems in schools, offices, Ashram schools and hostels under the Social Welfare and Women and Child Department, the project seems to be in doldrums.

A recent report of the Auditor General (AG) of Maharashtra states that although more than Rs 7 crore have been spent on the project, only 5.98 per cent of the targetted people were covered.
