Malaysian state wirelessly connects public services
The Malaysian state government of Terengganu has announced the completion of phase one of the Broadband Wireless Network Project (BWNP), which is part of the state’s e-government initiative, T-eG (Terengganu e-government).As part of T-eG, the local government has planned to use wireless infrastructure to connect all government offices to improve its service offerings for the public and increase service efficiency.

Großbritannien legt Strategie zur Cybersicherheit vor
Die britische Regierung hat vergangene Woche im Rahmen einer Neuauflage seiner nationalen Sicherheitsstrategie seine erste "Cyber Security Strategy" vorgelegt (PDF-Datei). Demnach soll im September ein Office of Cyber Security (OCS) gegründet werden, das für die Sicherheitsstrategie der gesamten Regierung zuständig sein und mit ausländischen Regierungen zusammenarbeiten soll. Daneben soll am beim Nachrichten- und Sicherheitsdienst Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) ein Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) die praktische Arbeit erledigen, also den Zustand der Netze überwachen, Angriffe analysieren und Reaktionen darauf erarbeiten. Außerdem soll das CSOC Unternehmen und Bürger über die Sicherheitsrisiken aufklären.
Indien plant zentrale Datenbank für seine 1,1 Milliarden Bürger
Die indische Regierung will alle 1,1 Milliarden Bürger des Staats auf dem Subkontinent mit Identitätsdokumenten ausrüsten und die Ausweisnummern in einer zentralen Datenbank erfassen. Laut britischen Medienberichten will Regierungschef Manmohan Singh mit dem IT-Großprojekt die nationale Sicherheit erhöhen und Identitätsmissbrauch bekämpfen, aber auch eine gerechtere Verteilung von Sozialleistungen gewährleisten.
