A new business registration by a Williams Lake millwright shop was the 100,000th transaction for the OneStop Business Registry since the award-winning integrated e-government service went online in 2004, Finance Minister Carole Taylor announced recetly.

"This milestone shows that many businesses - new and old - are going online and using OneStop to access important services," said Taylor.

"It's also a reminder that hundreds of new businesses are registering across British Columbia each week, investing in the future of communities like Williams Lake and strengthening our economy."

"I was able to click on OneStop and register my new business with several provincial and federal agencies like WorkSafeBC and Industry Canada, all in one session," said Mark Penney, owner of Penney Mechanical.

"It saved me time and money, and that's important for a small business owner."

OneStop services include:

  • A Business Registration service, which enables a business to register with multiple federal and provincial public sector agencies and local governments in one step;

  • A Business Address Change service, which enables a business to notify multiple federal and provincial public sector agencies and local governments of an address change in one step;

  • A Business Number service, which assigns each B.C. business interacting with the public sector a business number - a unique identifier that makes working with the public sector simpler, easier, and more convenient; and

  • The Corporate Registry's Name Approval service, which combines business name search and approval processes.
