    Im fünften Jahr des Bürgerservice im Stadthaus steht noch eine Herausforderung an: Ab 1. November sollen die von der Bundesregierung beschlossenen Reisepässe mit gespeicherten geometrischen Daten ausgegeben werden. Dies teilte gestern die Leiterin des Bürgerservice, Kristina Trilk, während eines Pressegesprächs zum fünften Geburtstags des öffentlichen Amtes mit: „Wir sind sehr optimistisch, diese neue Umstellung ohne Probleme zu schaffen.“

    Gorachand Banerjee runs a common service centre in Kapasaria village in Chanditala 2 block, 20 km away from Kolkata.

    Banerjee, who has studied till class X, is today a village level entrepreneur under the common service centre scheme of the Government of India.

    Logistics and last-mile delivery start-up Connect India E-commerce Services Pvt. Ltd has tied up with common service centres (CSCs), implemented under the national e-governance plan, to expand its delivery reach to 3,500 locations from 1,500, a top executive said on Friday.

    Connect India is a delivery firm which doesn’t employ delivery boys. It commissions neighbourhood grocery stores, medicine shops, cyber cafes and such outlets in villages and urban areas and delivers the parcels at these outlets. The owners of these outlets then deliver the parcels to customers.

    Sheffield City Council today announced its participation in The CARMEN project (Citizens Advanced Relationship ManageMENt), a new European Union-funded initiative which aims to adapt the private sector's use of CRM technology (Customer Relationship Management) to create an innovative, knowledge-based multi-media service for the public sector.

    Under the auspices of (the EU's eTen programme), Sheffield will partner with Saarbrücken, Prato, the Black Country, among others, to combine CRM expertise and experience to develop a common, open source CRM platform for deployment throughout Europe. Once developed, this new platform will be made available to Public Administrations in a cost-effective and easy-to-use ASP format that can be readily integrated into pre-existing applications.

  • Get resident cards activated at Royal Oman Police civil service centres

    Citizens and residents can now activate their Resident or ID card at one of the Civil Status service centres of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and benefit from electronic government services, said Colonel Ali bin Saif Al Marbu’i, director of Civil Status at ROP.

    The system, called ‘Tam,’ is an electronic certification service provided by the National Digital Certification Centre at the Information Technology Authority.

    The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications has reached an agreement with Ghana Post to convert over 360 dormant post offices nationwide into information technology centers.

    The move is seen as one of the best efforts to breathe life into the once active postal services.

    Thirteen post offices in Brong Ahafo, Eastern, Greater Accra and Western Regions have already been connected to internet on a pilot program.

    An official statement comes out on Thursday said the initiative would be undertaken by the external affairs ministry along with CSC e-Governance Services India, which is promoted by the department of electronics and information technology.

    The Telangana government has opened 'Digital Telangana Centres' managed by women in 100 panchayats across the state and plans to open such Centres in 1,000 others by January, an initiative in which several banks and insurance firms have evinced interest.

    "The 'Digital Telangana Centres' or 'e-Panchayats' programme of the state government, which offers e-governance facilities to villagers, was launched on October 2 in Nalgonda district and it currently runs at 100 panchayats. We plan to scale it up to 1,100 by January," Telangana Information Technology (IT) Secretary Jayesh Ranjan told PTI.

    Major fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) players will soon be able to sell their products via 250,000 common service centres spread across rural India, with the government facilitating the move in view of an ever-increasing demand for such items in villages.

    Common service centres (CSCs) are points in villages where the government provides a host of services related to ration card, birth certificate, railway ticket booking and money transfer, etc. These centres also train people in using digital services.

    Plans on the anvil to use CSCs for last mile e-commerce delivery

    The ministry of communications and information technology is working on an extensive plan to promote Common Service Centres (CSCs), an ongoing project, in rural areas. Sources in the ministry say as many as 14 states would have a CSC in each gram panchayat (GP) by the end of this financial year.

    Implemented under the National e-Governance Plan, formulated by the department of electronics and information technology, these centres are to be internet-enabled front-end service delivery points at the village, for all types of services, government and private.

    Jammu and Kashmir government today said 550 Common Service Centres (CSC) have been set up by the Information Technology department across the state during the current financial year, achieving over 50 per cent of the target.

    “IT department has so far set up 550 CSC, out of the proposed target of 1,104, to provide services to the people in every nook and corner of the state,” Minister for Information Technology Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said.

    Official sources said the IRCTC late last month alerted the Ministry of Electronics and IT that only 38,500 RSPs had registered so far for IRCTC services.

    The government claims 2.92 lakh common service centres (CSCs) deliver a range of services today to citizens across the country, a far cry from the 83,000 centres that existed during UPA rule.

    But the IRCTC, meant to deliver e-ticketing services via retail service providers (RSPs) through 2.8 lakh such centres, has raised the red flag, saying the process of RSP registration is very slow.

    A training programme for organisers of Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the State will commence from November 14 at the AP Human Resources Development Centre at Bapatla, said Director General, D. Chakrapani.

    Two hundred organisers from each district will be trained in the first phase, he said at Bapatla on Thursday. Common Service Centres assistant vice president Raja Kishore acted as a resource person.

  • IN: Apollo Group ties up with govt-run Common Service Centres to expand telemedicine services

    Apollo Hospitals Group, pioneers of telemedicine, has teamed up with Common Services Centres (CSC), a scheme of the Union Government, to deliver healthcare to rural patients using telemedicine facilities.

    A memorandum of understanding was signed between Apollo Group and CSC under the Department of Electronics and Information Technology in Delhi, said a release. Apollo Hospitals started telemedicine 13 years back, in an effort to bring healthcare closer to patients of both urban and rural areas. Apollo Tele Health Services, a group company of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, has signed a MoU with CSC.

    The Common Service Centers (CSC), set up for providing various e-governance services to citizens, will now charge five times the current amount to make online applications for driving licences and other vehicle-related documents.
