  • CAIT to host two meetings on GCC e-Government

    he Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) announced on Saturday hosting of the joint meeting between the executive committee for e-Government and committee of undersecretaries of ministries of communications and information technology, and the 13th meeting of the executive committee for e-Government in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

    The two meetings will be held on March 9 and 10, 2014, CAIT said in a press statement, adding that Kuwait will be hosting the two meetings due to its current presidency term of GCC this year.

    Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) participants at a public service and eGovernment workshop in Manama have agreed to expand public service provision for people with special needs.

    The expansion will be achieved through a policy that uses various communication tools to enhance access to all segments of society, in line with the international standards.

  • Dubai hosts GCC eGovernment conference from Saturday

    As the GCC region, like the UAE, moves more towards eGovernance, the 20th GCC eGovernment and eServices Conference starting at Dubai International Financial Centre Saturday will present various strategies for improving technological system infrastructures.

    These new systems aim to organize information sharing and increased effectiveness of government services and to encourage e-service innovation and strengthen the standards of eGovernment frameworks in the GCC.

  • Establishing the E-Government Network in the GCC States is approved

    Minister of Transport and Acting CEO of Economic Development Board (EDB) Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed chaired the second meeting of the Ministerial Committee of GCC E-Government, in presence of the GCC Secretary General, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, and the relevant ministers of the e-government in the member states. The meeting was hosted by Kingdom of Bahrain to discuss a number of issues related to improving and developing the e-government services and common cooperation issues.

    The meeting aimed at developing the coordination and cooperation means between GCC states to achieve the views and aspirations of Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC states in an initiative to move from the Gulf cooperation to the union stage as an embodiment of the concern of the leaders and accomplishing of the aspirations of GCC states.

  • GCC committee for E-Health discusses E-Linking systems for expats

    The first meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Committee for E-Health, supervised by Ministry of Health, kicked off here on Monday to discuss E-Linking systems for screening programs of expatriates and establishing appropriate work mechanism to implement the smart card and E-Linking systems among GCC countries.

    The meeting is also to discuss development mechanisms for E-Systems of screening expats that would help each GCC country to identify health conditions of expats wishing to enter to any member-country, Dr. Qais Al-Duwairi, Assistant Undersecretary of Public Health Affairs at Ministry of Health, said in a press statement.

    Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Director General Abdullateef Al-Suraye applauded formation of a GCC ministerial committee on e-government as indicative of interest of GCC leaders in spreading electronic services across their countries.

    The committee, made up of chiefs of the e-government agencies, works to improve the e-services for the citizens of and expatriates in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, Al-Suraye said Sunday.

  • GCC e-Government Committee to convene in Doha

    The Gulf Cooperation e-Government Executive Committee will convene tomorrow (February18) for its 15th periodic meeting in Doha, Qatar. The delegations will discuss a follow-up of the joint initiatives featuring in the e-Government strategy, the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) that supports the distribution and identification of public encryption keys.

  • GCC e-Government Ministerial Committee to meet in Qatar

    The GCC e-Government Ministerial Committee will hold its fourth meeting in Doha on Tuesday.

    At the beginning of the meeting, the ministers in charge will launch the e-Government Portal for the GCC countries on the internet and mobile phones in both Arabic and English, in accordance with international standards and the new global practices and trends such as the promotion of e-participation and access to open government data.

  • GCC E-Performance Index 2022 reveals strong digital transformation efforts by GCC countries

    The latest GCC E-Performance Index 2022 reveals that all countries from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region have performed exceptionally well on five major global indicators, displaying significant progress in digital transformation. The report was issued by Orient Planet Research (OPR), an independent unit of Orient Planet Group (OPG), in collaboration with information and communications technology (ICT) expert and independent researcher Abdul Kader Al Kamli.

  • GCC ministers adopt e-government strategies document

    A declaration for strategies aimed at enhancing the role of e-governments in attaining sustainable development was drawn up by heads of Gulf Cooperation Council communication and media authorities in a meeting here on Sunday.

    The declaration also highlights raising local e-government employee capabilities and GCC integration, Kuwait's Minister of Communications and State Minister for Housing Affairs Salem Al-Uthaina, who heads the GCC centralized council for information technology, told KUNA.

  • GCC ministers of civil service authorities finalize meetings in UAE

    Kuwaiti Minister of Planning and Minister of State for Administrative Development Affairs Dr. Maasouma Al-Mubarak on Wednesday called for cooperation between GCC countries in the field of e-governments.

    Upon finalizing their meetings, the ministers responsible for civil service authorities in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries formed a technical work team to handle the ministers' recommendations to the GCC secretariat office to issue and implement necessary resolutions.

  • GCC portal for common services, link next month

    The Executive Committee for e-Government of GCC will launch a portal for common services of member countries and set up a link to connect them by next month.

    An initial list of services to be included in the portal and latest developments on the link were discussed in a meeting in Doha yesterday, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reports.

    The project aims to exchange information and provide common services, said Hasan Al Shayad, Assistant Secretary-General for e-Government Programme at the Ministry of Information and Technology.

    "India has faced security threats from a long time and we have developed systems and software to successfully face attacks over the internet whether they are targeted at federal or state institutions or the private sector," DK Sareen Executive Director of India's Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), told Emirates 24|7.

  • Joint e-govt portal for GCC launched

    The GCC states yesterday launched their first joint e-government portal that enables them to provide unified electronic services to citizens and expatriates and facilitate easier and faster exchange of information.

    Citizens and expatriates in the member countries can avail of various services at the portal, especially those related to customs, traffic department and transport , establishment of business and companies , participation in tenders, among others, a senior official has disclosed.

  • Meeting seeks one e-gov't network for all GCC states

    GCC states are keen on setting a firm foundation for Gulf e-government and Information Technology cooperation with the objective of conflating all the states' e-government systems into one network, said an expert here on Tuesday.

    Director of the Central Apparatus for Information Technology in Kuwait, Abdullatif Al-Serayea, told reporters here on the sidelines of a GCC meeting on e-government and IT, that the meeting would result in ideas that would be further probed into in another meeting set for next March.
