  • Bahrain: Forum to focus on e-government

    E-government transformation in Bahrain will come under focus at a major conference at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa tomorrow .

    Cisco Systems is organising the event in partnership with the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO), under the patronage of Royal Court head Shaikh Mohammed bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa.

  • Brunei: Conference On The Next Step Of E-Government

    Over 100 government officials attended a conference yesterday on "e-Government: The Next Step" at Empire Hotel and Country Club.

    It was aimed at providing them with an insight into the best practices for implementing e-Government around the world and their latest developments.

    Organised in collaboration with partners Quint Wellington Redwood, Versa PAC Sdn Bhd and iCo-op.netPte Ltd, the event was also held by Computer Associates International to enhance participants' awareness on the topic with its focuses on cooperation and a case study.

  • Brunei: Prime Minister's Office, OECD To Hold E-Govt Conference

    The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)-Korea Policy Centre will be organising Brunei's first International Conference on E-Government and Administrative Simplification, which will see discussions on the current and future of e-government in the Sultanate.

    Slated for May 11 to 13 at the Radisson Hotel (formerly Sheraton Utama Hotel), the conference is expected to be attended by government officers, professors and experts from OECD members and nonmember Asian Pacific countries involved in public governance, according to a press statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

  • China: E-governance exhibition begins in Beijing

    China's largest exhibition on e-governance technologies and products began Tuesday in Beijing, showing the latest products and solutions of world-leading information technology manufacturers.

    The Third China E-Government Technology and Application Exhibition, jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information Technology, also includes forums and other special events.

  • China: Konferenz zu E-Government in Shanghai

    Chinesische Experten haben sich zu einem zweitägigen Symposium zum Thema "E-Government" in Shanghai getroffen.

    "Die entsprechenden Internetseiten der meisten Behörden und Provinzen helfen den Regierungen die Leute besser zu erreichen und machen so die Verwaltungsarbeit transparenter und effizienter", sagte der stellvertretende Direktor der Büros für Informationstechnologie des Staatsrates, Chen Dawei.

  • China: Meeting discusses online government

    Over 100 representatives in charge of the major e-government projects throughout the country are sharing their experiences at the National E-government Work Meeting, which began yesterday in Shanghai and ends today.

    Chen Dawei, deputy director of the Information Technology Office of the State Council, said, "The e-government websites in most provinces have helped the local governments more easily reach local residents and therefore make the administrative work more transparent and efficient."

  • Electronic Solutions for Improvement of Civil Service Efficiency in Bosnia and Herzegovina

    Around 500 participants, mostly civil servants and ICT experts from BiH have opened today the Second eGovernment Conference in BiH, entitled Domestic solutions for eGovernment. This two-day conference was opened in the newly-reconstructed Big Parliamentary Hall of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organizers are Agency for Civil Service and UNDP in BiH, together with the leading industry partners in the field, from BiH.

    The goal of this conference is to spur development of civil service in terms of the ICT usage as a tool for increasing effectiveness and efficiency of the civil services. Due to that, it is necessary to present the solutions applied in local institutions to the participants of the conference.

  • EU: High-level Pan-European Conference on Improving Online Service Delivery

    Academics and national eGovernment policy-makers from across the EU met in Dublin castle on 17-18 June to compare ways to measure the benefits of on-line public services, and how to reshape back-office processes so as to deliver these services more effectively.

    This conference, entitled “Towards Innovative Transformation in the Public Sector”, was organised jointly by the European Commission and the EU’s Irish Presidency, to help policy-makers design the next steps in their strategies for eGovernment modernisation and innovation in public administrations, in line with the eEurope 2005 Action Plan.

  • Experten: Internet-Behörden nur bei Bürokratieabbau sinnvoll

    Die vollständige Umstellung von Landes- und Kommunalverwaltungen auf die Arbeit per Internet ergibt nach Expertenmeinung nur Sinn, wenn sie mit dem Abbau von Bürokratie verbunden ist. Anderenfalls wird die Einführung der elektronischen Verwaltung nicht zur Vereinfachung von Abläufen führen und deshalb keine wirtschaftlichen Effekte haben, wie eine Tagung von 150 Fachleuten aus ganz Deutschland am Mittwoch in Ludwigslust ergab. Die Region Westmecklenburg ist als eine von bundesweit drei Testregionen für beschleunigten Bürokratieabbau auch Vorreiter bei der Einführung der elektronischen Verwaltung, die den Bürgern den Gang zum Amt ersparen soll.

    150 Experten bei Fachtagung in Ludwigslust

    Rund 150 Gäste und Mitwirkende aus ganz Deutschland haben am Mittwoch an der Fachtagung "Internetportale als Kernstück des kommunalen eGovernments" in Ludwigslust teilgenommen.

    In seiner Begrüßungsrede betonte Innenminister Gottfried Timm (SPD) die Notwendigkeit, ebenenübergreifend zu kooperieren und die vorhandenen Möglichkeiten gerade auch zwischen Ministerien abzustimmen. Mit dem Modellprojekt "eGovernment Region Westmecklenburg" geht das Land gemeinsam mit den fünf Gebietskörperschaften den Weg, eine gemeinsame Struktur aufzubauen, die den Kunden der Verwaltung, Wirtschaft wie Bürgern, einen einheitlichen Zugang zu den Dienstleistungen verschiedener Verwaltungsebenen, von der Kommune bis zum Land online anbietet.

    "Freie Software in der öffentlichen Verwaltung – Erfahrungen aus der Praxis" hieß das Thema des 1. LinuxKongresses am gestrigen Freitag, 12. November, in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, Österreich. Die Erfahrungen, die zur Sprache kamen, betrafen keineswegs nur den Bereich der Alpenrepublik. Auch IT-Verantwortliche aus Industrie und städtischen Dienststellen in Deutschland und der Schweiz kamen zu Wort.
  • Schweiz: Die Zukunft der virtuellen Verwaltung

    Die Administration via Internet wird weiter wachsen. Bei einem Kongress in Biel konnten Vertreter der Wirtschaft und der Politik über die Entwicklung des e-Government im Kanton Bern beraten.

    Nach der anfänglichen Euphorie braucht der digitale Austausch zwischen Volk und Verwaltung nun neue Impulse. Im Kongresszentrum trafen sich am Dienstag Anwender und Anbieter, um durch Referate, Workshops und Diskussionen die Zukunft des sogenannten e-Government im Kanton Bern auszuloten.

  • South Africa: Getting aboard e-government

    Events management company 1073 will host an e-government conference on 19 and 20 September in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

    The conference will provide companies with insight on how new technology can enable many e-government initiatives.

    “The challenge for government is to continually have to balance the need for improved productivity while maintaining its societal position as one of the country's largest employers,” says Lisa Helm, The Business Zone 1073's production director.

  • Symposium reviews Vietnam e-government development

    A conference and exhibition on e-government started yesterday in Hanoi, aiming to review an e-government development scheme in Vietnam and seek measures to develop e-government.

    The two-day Vietnam e-Government Symposium 2006, themed “E-government – the bridge for government, businesses and citizens,” is organized by IDG Vietnam and the Hanoi Department of Post and Telematics.

  • The Islamic Countries e-Government Summit to discuss master plan for e-Government project

    The Islamic Countries e-Government Summit will be organized by Datamatix on 20-22 of November, 2006 at the Dubai World Trade Center, UAE.

    This premier event will provide insights on the challenges faced by various e-Government projects in Islamic countries and will try and come up with a proposal for a unified standard that can drive e-Government innovations within the frame works of governance in Islamic countries.

    The forum focused on the latest e-Government developments & initiatives. It highlighted how nations are preparing their communities, businesses and managements using e-Government.

  • UAE: Dubai eGovernment to host the first Middle East eGovernment Summit in Dubai

    Dubai eGovernment will host the first Middle East eGovernment Summit at the Emirates Towers Hotel, Dubai, on April 26 and 27, in association with ITP Events.

    Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, Dubai eGovernment. The event will bring together senior decision-makers from the region's governments, including GCC e-government teams, and organisations from across the region and the globe.

  • UAE: Dubai School of Government receives top Harvard and international thinkers

    Twelve of the world's top thinkers including five Harvard University faculty will converge in Dubai for a two-day conference aimed at empowering regional governments with information and knowledge on successful e-government strategy and implementation.

    The conference entitled "From E-Government to I-Government: How Information Government will Revolutionize the Public Sector" to be held on 23 - 24 May 2005, is being organised by the Dubai School of Government (DSG) in partnership with Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

  • UK:IDeA e-champions conference:Highlighted the mainstreaming of e-government

    The IDeA e-champions network annual conference and exhibition 2005 - “mainstreaming e-government: mainstreaming efficiency” - took place on 20 September 2005, attended by more than 300 e-champions representing local authorities from England and Wales.

    With both Government funding drawing to a close and all local services expected to be available online by December 2005, the event provided an opportunity for reflection, critical debate and celebration of the “journey of continuous improvement’ that is the e-government agenda.
