Taking forward its eGovernment initiatives, Dubai Municipality has implemented a paperless environment with the launch of an electronic correspondence service, which allows corporate customers to electronically submit their requirements to specific departments within the Municipality.

Beginning this week Dubai Municipality will accept only those correspondences sent to them electronically by their corporate clients.

The federal government is beginning to see what the private sector has already discovered: Search technology could be the answer to all its information management problems.

A recent request for information, issued jointly by the General Services Administration and the Office of Management and Budget, asks whether search technology is powerful enough to replace some government standards for information management.

September lief noch die Ausschreibung für das System. Im November wird dann entschieden, welche Firma den Zuschlag erhält.

Wollen Landwirte einen Antrag auf flächenbezogene Beihilfe stellen, benötigen sie eine Auflistung der bewirtschafteten Flächen, deren genaue Größe sowie die Nummern der zugehörigen Flurstücke. Um die notwendigen Informationen zu erhalten, müssen die Antragsteller in Rheinland-Pfalz nicht mehr wie bisher aufs Katasteramt gehen und die Flächen selbst ausmessen. Seit April können Landwirte erstmals Karten, Grundstücksgröße, Flurnummern und sonstige Kataster- und Antragsinformationen via Internet direkt aus der Datenbank der Verwaltung abrufen.

The government is to harness additional expert advice to control the cost of public IT projects, but industry experts say that the issues aren't that complex.

The cabinet has agreed to establish a "peer review system" for major public IT projects, which will involve experts from across the public service assessing projects to prevent cost overruns and the development of systems that cannot be used.
