A new tool from US Ignite helps communities search and filter federal grant opportunities to support broadband expansion and smart city deployments.
To make it easier for communities to find federal grants for their broadband and smart city projects, US Ignite launched the Federal Funding Opportunity Tool.
US Ignite, a nonprofit dedicated to building the foundation for smart cities, developed the open data tool to improve access to its Federal Funding Opportunities database.
Smart city and broadband grants also can be filtered by sector, such as big data, infrastructure, digital equity energy, health care, education, public safety, innovation and information technologies. Communities familiar with federal programs can explore the database and follow links for further details.
Those less familiar with federal funding programs can use the Opportunity Wizard to quickly identify the best funding for their projects.
“Federal funding programs are complex, and we know that communities need support to navigate the different grant programs that exist,” said Lee Davenport, director of Community Development at US Ignite. “Our goal is to simplify the process of finding relevant opportunities, and in doing so, help communities use federal dollars to drive local economic growth, close the digital divide, and create smarter communities as a whole.”
