In a bid to further boost Digital India initiative, eMudhra, a digital identity and transaction management company has partnered with 15 state governments to help them go digital in the context of the e-Governance initiatives.
Under the initiative, eMudhra has enabled AADHAAR eSign and Digital signature based signing to various government officers in several districts of these states. This has facilitated paperless employee logins, leave requests, memos and official document signing etc.
Using eMudhra’s eSign and Digital Signatures, eOffice applications, issuance of various certificates such as Life, Marriage Encumbrance Certificates etc. have been made paperless resulting in the ability to do faceless, paperless transactions.
Currently, government offices follow a paper-based administration for all its internal processes, which pulls down the efficiency of management. The state governments turned to eMudhra to offer solutions in digitally transforming its operations, which would strengthen the process and accelerate the service delivery mechanism.
eMudhra provides a digital signature method, which is a legally valid electronic form of a signature that can be used to authenticate the identity of the sender of a message and ensure that the original content of the message or document that has been sent is unchanged. The signature is legally valid and non-repudiable under the Information Technology Act.
Moreover, the digital signatures ensure that the document cannot be tampered with, reduces process delays, and eliminates the need to print paper, scan and fax.

eMudhra has been issuing digital signature certificates in India since 2008.
