Karnataka’s Capital Bengaluru soon will get a nice and civil Command Centre that has been envisaged to be the brain for the daily handling of the city as well as disaster management. The amount of this project is approximately Rs 109 crores. The project will come up with a common helpline number, dedicated mobile application, and also a web portal, where citizens can file complaints and the authorities can use the platform to institutionalize data-driven decisions for regulating operations.

14 Government Agencies on one platform

In the first phase of the project, about 14 government agencies including BBMP, BMTC, BWSSB, BESCOM, City police, Namma Metro will be brought under one platform.

Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Managing Director of Bengaluru Smart City said, the Control and Command Centre will mainly focus on three things that is mobility, solid waste management, and health. While promising that the platform will not be like any others where complaints remain unresolved for months, she said that they will monitor every complaint until it is resolved.

Several Options for citizens to lodge a complaint

Citizens can file their complaints on phone calls, on the mobile app, online portal, multimedia, or manually. Apart from attending complaints, the command center will also provide the facility of the dashboard on which a person can view data on road works history, road inventory, and OFC. The center will also provide information about the geo-enabled property tax information system, trade license, stormwater drains, street lighting, BBMP health, multi-agency road cutting coordination system parking.

Other functions of the Command Centre

A part of the project also includes monitoring vehicles, staff attendance, work allotment to staff, door-to-door collection of solid waste, and much more. In addition to these facilities, there will be a dashboard available with regular updates to the infrastructure projects.

Officials informed that the Bengaluru city is among the ten cities in India, which are selected for implementing the project called Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC).

Recently, the project got administrative approval from the government. Korlapati said, “We will invite the bids in a week” and further added that the Election Commissioner has already permitted to go ahead with the tenders.
