
The smart city project in Dharamshala has now picked up pace. Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma is now focusing on running electric buses in the city along with IT park. The operation of electric buses will help in making the traffic in Dharamshala city smooth, pollution free and convenient and the city will move fast towards becoming smart.
Sudhir Sharma said that a total of 15 electric buses are to be run in Dharamshala, out of which one bus has been included in the HRTC fleet. Apart from this, 9 charging stations have also been installed in the city.
Sudhir Sharma said that very soon electric transport facility will start in Dharamshala. With this, bus facility will be provided in those wards of the city, where big vehicles cannot go.
Sudhir Sharma said that earlier, when he was a minister in the government, he had included this ambitious project in the Smart City DPR. He told that soon Transport Minister Mukesh Agnihotri will flag off these buses. He said that these buses which would help in pollution control would make the city smart in true sense. Dharamshala Smart City Limited Company has prepared this project under Fame India Scheme.
He informed that 10 e-vehicle charging stations are to be set up in Dharamshala. 9 E-Vehicle Charging Stations have been set up. With this, e-vehicle owners will also start getting this facility soon. Only one site has been reserved.
Dharamshala Smart City Limited Company will provide 15 electric buses in collaboration with HRTC as a pilot project. There will be 15 to 25 seats in the electric bus, in which the disabled can sit and travel in the bus with a wheelchair. E-buses will be more comfortable due to air suspension infrastructure and air conditioning. These buses will charge in less time. They have been manufactured under Electric Bus FAME-2 (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles).
Sudhir Sharma said that the Mcleodganj bus stand built under the Smart City scheme will also be inaugurated soon by Transport Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. Along with this, the Dharamshala bus stand will be constructed soon and dedicated to the public.
