Transforming Government since 2001

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today launched the country’s first Smart and Intelligent Village at Satnavari in Nagpur district, marking the beginning of a transformative rural development initiative.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Fadnavis announced that the state government will soon roll out a program to develop 10 smart and intelligent villages in every taluka, covering nearly 3,500 villages in the first phase.

“Through advanced technology, we are providing essential facilities like healthcare, education, smart irrigation, telemedicine, and digital services in one place. Satnavari has now become a role model for the country,” Fadnavis said. He added, “With drones, sensors, and artificial intelligence, farmers will reduce costs and increase productivity, while children will get access to global knowledge.”

The project has been implemented in collaboration with the Voice of Indian Communication Technology Enterprises (VOICE), a consortium of 24 companies, along with the support of the Maharashtra government and Nagpur district administration.

Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule hailed the initiative as a proud moment for Nagpur district, noting that this was a step forward in taking Digital India and Smart City concepts to the grassroots.

At the event, CM Fadnavis also performed e-bhoomipujan of 40 new Anganwadi centers and inaugurated solar projects under Nagpur Zilla Parishad. Representatives of companies partnering in the smart village initiative were felicitated with certificates.
