Mr. Mohammed Ziad Asfour the Assistant Director of Marketing and Awareness Department at the eGovernment Authority, stated that: "Mobiles are widely used among most age categories in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The penetration of mobile usage reached 150% according to latest statistics, therefore the mobile gateway was launched to provide another version of the eGovernment portal via mobile phones to provide the public with modern and simple means to communicate with the eGovernment at anytime and anywhere".
Asfour also added: "The campaign aims to introduce the services provided via the Mobile Gateway to the public to encourage them to use these services which enjoy privacy and security whether through the WAP or the SMS".
He confirmed that users can benefit for the first time in Bahrain, from the eGovernment payment services through the mobile, offering innovative services to the individuals.
The eGovernment Authority Stand can be visited in Bahrain Mall from the 1-20th August 2010 to view closely the e-services provided via mobile phone portal and know how they are used. A draw shall be conducted at the end of the campaign to honor the visitors.
The mobile gateway is currently providing 45 government services such as: Pay Electricity and Water Bills, water and electricity bill payment, information and appointments booking: Cultural Events, Daily Price Index, Delivery Date Calculator, Government Directory, Hotel Directory, Accredited Missions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Flight Information, Calculate Body Mass Index, Contact Details of Pharmacies, Contact Details of Hospital, Health Centers, and Salmaniya Medical Complex, as well as Commercial Registration/ Agency Inquiry, Check your Radiology Status, Court Case Enquiry and Tracking of Postal Packages.
In addition to other services including: Unit Maintenance Enquiry Status, Financial Support Services for Citizens, Students Exam Results, Check your Blood Record, Legality of Foreign Worker, Foreign Worker Application Status, Mobile Poll, Feedback on Mobile Phone Portal, Check Drug Prices, Foreign Worker Visa Status, Local and International News, Ramadan Services, Appointment Status at SMC, Health Worker Immunization Record, Health Complaint Status, Students Immunization Record, Currency Converter, Prayer Time, Electricity and Water Outage Complaint, Material Testing Results, Quality Assurance, University Examination Results, sanitary complaints follow up, Kiosk and CSC Locator, and Mobile Poll.
Three other services shall be launched during the Holy month of Ramadan: (times of fasting and Imsak, Ramadan Majalis list and religious events).
