Organisation's work provides further help in 'coordination and integration' in the field

The UAE General Information Authority (GIA) has honoured its Omani counterpart, Information Technology Authority (ITA) for its role in helping promote e-governance.

The felicitation took place on the sidelines of the First Gulf Cooperation Council eGovernment Conference.

The event was held in Muscat between December 21-23.

Salem Khamis Al Shair, GIA director-general, presented a shield of honour to Mohammad Bin Nasser Al Khusaibi, secretary general of the Ministry of National Economy and Chairman of ITA in Oman.

The ceremony was attended from the Omani side by Dr Salim Bin Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, chief executive officer, Information Technology Authority, and from the UAE side by Salem Al Hosani, GIA deputy director-general.

The First GCC Exhibition, held concurrently with the First GCC eGovernment Conference, was organised to provide an opportunity to showcase the most prominent accomplishments related to eGovernment projects in GCC countries and create a platform for constructive dialogue between those working in the eGovernment sector and the beneficiaries of these projects.

Al Shair expressed his appreciation to the ITA for making the conference and the activities held on its sidelines a success.

He said: "These activities would support the national experiences in the GCC countries at the level of eTransformation and eGovernment. They would also boost the bridges of coordination and integration."
