KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has formally launched the E-governance for contractors and firms that would benefit as many as 7000 contractors of the province. Provincial Minister for C&W Akbar Ayub Khan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary Communication & Works and other concerned attended the meeting. Under this initiative, the facility of online registration would be available for 24 hours throughout the week.

The Chief Minister termed this initiative as first and unique step of its kind in Pakistan directing the other departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa particularly public health engineering, irrigation and local government to adopt this mechanism in consultation with Communication and Works Department. He further directed to launch E-Work order also in next phase and said the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken a lead on other provinces in terms of E-governance.

The Provincial Minister for Communication & Works briefed the Chief Minister about the aforementioned E-registration and told that in accordance with the demand of Pakistan Engineering Council, an easy and uncomplicated mechanism for E-registration of contractors and firms has been introduced in C&W Department. Previously the manual registration was done by 12 to 15 Departments separately and the process was very long and complicated. Now, after this successful initiative, the registration of contractors would only be done through Communication & Works Department that would surely save the time. He revealed that rest of the departments only has the facility of E-tendering but C&W had already started E-bidding and E-billing also.

The Chief Minister said that E-registration of contractors is another milestone towards E-Governance system in the province. He said that the role of C&W Department is highly appreciable in order to convert the dream of the provincial government for E-governance in to reality. He stated that the use of modern technology is obligatory to meet the challenges of modern era. This is the only way through which we can achieve our targets regarding socio economic development and prosperity, he stated.
