About 7,000 transactions related to General Directorate of Passports are executed daily through Metrash 2 mobile application, a senior official at the Department said.

'Metrash 2 mobile application was launched in December 2011 with just a few of services but quickly it developed, and today it provides about 153 e-services, available in six languages. Currently, around 400,000 active e-service users are availing its services, Major Tareq Issa Al Aqidi officer at the Department said yesterday in induction seminar for companies held at the General Directorate of Traffic. Regarding visa services, the Department executes more than 215,000 transactions and over 160,000 leave notification services every month.

The seminar was attended by Capt. Ali Ahmed Al Binali, head of e-services at Information Systems Department and representatives from several companies and institutions. Al Aqidi pointed to the important development accomplished by the different departments of the Ministry of Interior.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Binali said: 'The aim of e-services is to offer department' services to people relieving them from visiting the department headquarters. He said Metrash 2 is available 24/7 (24 hours, seven days), adding that the target groups are residents, various establishments and visa holders of all kinds.

Al Binali also explained how to access the electronic services. These electronic services can be accessed through the website and Metrash 2. Regarding the issue of permanent visa, he pointed out that more than 150,000 transactions were executed every month. The RP services include residency renewals, cancellations, reactivation of residence permits and others. He noted that residence cards after printing can be delivered through Qatar Postal Services Company.

Metrash 2 services also include; traffic, community police and CID. These developments are meant to meet 'Qatar e-Government 2020.
