The number of appeals submitted to "ASAN Service", Azerbaijan’s leading e-Government institution acting on behalf and in cooperation with other state entities in public service provision, reached 13 million by late 2016, while the number of provided services hit 12,369 million.

Inam Karimov, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan, made the remark while addressing a Cabinet meeting on January 10.

He further stressed that the public confidence in the activity of the centers is nearly 100 percent, mentioning that "ASAN Service" centers provide more than 230 services, which are presented by 10 state agencies and private companies.

First ASAN Service center was established by the presidential decree in 2012. The Service, which already has 11 centers across the country, provides venues for state agencies to render their services in a uniformed and coordinated manner. Until 2018, the state plans to launch ten more centers in the regions of the country.

The service could reduce extra expenses and loss of time for many citizens, upgrade the level of professionalism, ensure a larger use of electronic services and increase transparency and strengthen the fight against corruption.

The coverage of ASAN Service system was expanded in different fields through "ASAN Visa", "ASAN Qatar", "ASAN Komunal", "ASAN Pay" mobile application, "ASAN Volunteers" and "ASAN Radio", which is the first and only radio channel dedicated to government services sector.

ASAN Visa, the portal of getting simplified visas to Azerbaijan (www.evisa.gov.az), has already started operation. The portal enables to receive e-visa in three steps within three days.

Citizens of 81 countries will be able to take advantage of ASAN Visa system, which will make life for many foreigners wishing to visit Azerbaijan easier.

"ASAN Kommunal" is established to optimize management and enhance transparency in providing services to the population in utilities. Azerishig, Azersu and Azerigaz companies offer a total of 45 services at the center, which also provide banking and insurance services.

“ASAN Pay” is a multifunctional payment system that enables the electronic delivery of administrative penalty decisions to citizens and electronic payment of administrative fines and those required by the enforcement of court decisions.

Some 10 buses serve as mobile "ASAN Service" centers in the regions not covered by the centers. The recently launched "ASAN Qatars" provide services to citizens in the country`s districts through using extensive railway network, current infrastructure, communication lines and advanced technologies.

Karimov emphasized that one of the responsibilities of the state agency is switching to e-system and introduction of innovations in public services.

He also reminded that Azerbaijan has improved its position in the UN E-Government Survey, which is published by the UN every two years. The country moved up by 12 positions from 68 to 56 among 193 UN member states on "E-Government Development Index".

Moreover, Azerbaijan rose from 7th to 4th place in the ranking among the CIS countries.

On the "E-Participation index", in turn, Azerbaijan occupies the 47th place, while in the previous ranking, the country ranked 77. Among the CIS countries Azerbaijan occupies second place on this indicator, whereas two years ago the country was on the 7th place.
