‘One Pay’ ‘One Service’ and ‘One Shop’ in one platform

Prime Minister’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy said, “The name of Bangladesh will be added to the list of top 50 countries in the United Nations’ (UN) e-governance development index by the next five years expanding and developing its digital services.

He came up with the remarks while addressing the program on the launching of e-government master plan report and A2i’s three citizen services at the city’s ICT tower yesterday.

He said, “We have largely moved forward in the last years. In the upcoming days, we want to go more 50 steps ahead. It’s not only a dream, it is now reality.”

According to the United Nations’ e-governance development survey 2018, Bangladesh is 115th among the 193 member countries of e-governance development index. Denmark is locating on top of the index, while Somalia is in lowest position. UN conducts this survey in less than each two years.

ICT Department of the incumbent government started the e-government master plan formulation activities after 10 years of coming on the power.

Terming the ICT system a modern technology, Prime Minister’s ICT affairs adviser Joy said, “The government wants to ensure digital services in 300 municipalities across the country by 2021.”

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, also the chief guest of the program formally inaugurated digital municipality services system-’One Pay’ ‘One Service’ and ‘One Shop’ with a view to ensure smooth flow of the government services through online.

With the invention of the digital services, producers of different isolated areas will be able to supply their goods to the buyers of different towns or cities easily. They will also be able to pay their bills through the online services.

At present, the services will be available in Mymensingh City Corporation and nine municipalities. The services will be spread countrywide next time, speakers said.

Speakers further said, some more places including Faridpur, Gopalganj, Natore, Singra, Jhinaidaho, Tungipara, Pirganj, Tarabo and Ramgoti municipality will also get the facilities.

Joy unveiled the cover of Digital Bangladesh’s e-government master plan report in the function.

The program was also presided over by Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information Communication Technology (ICT) affairs Ministry, while Md Tazul Islam, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Ministry, Hu Kang-il, Ambassador of South Korean to Bangladesh and N M Ziaul Alam, Secretary of Information Communication Technology (ICT) ministry, attended the program as special guests.

All kinds of government services will be provided from the newly innovated technology-one service platform. At present, 162 sorts of government services are being provided through the one stop services. Some 3,000 more services will be added in the platform very soon. It will help to develop our rural economy shortly, speakers said.

Some 100 laptops were given to 100 differently able people under “Learning and Earning Project” through the function.
