UK: Public want easier access to government
Only 27 percent of Irish people have accessed public services via the internet during the past year, according to a new study.A survey from the business communications provider Damovo has found that while only a small minority of people are using such services online, a majority believe that the Government should spend more on solutions like intelligent telephone systems, text messaging, internet and e-mail to make it easier for members of the public to contact public services.

USA: California: UC Merced to digitally link rural health centers
The University of California at Merced will use nearly $1 million in grants to digitally connect four rural health centers in the San Joaquin Valley with specialists in Valley cities and other UC schools, university officials announced today.In a region suffering a physician shortage, patients will benefit because they can tap the expertise of specialists such as dermatologists, psychiatrists and urologists who don’t practice in their communities.
The system is called telemedicine.
Romania: Online information worth 6.2 mln Euros
The Ministry of Development, Public Workings and Housing, together with the Ministry of the Small and Medium Enterprises have launched a website for the SMEs www.business-entrepreneur.ro, worth 6.2 mln Euros from Phare funds.The website is not functional yet despite being launched on September, 25th. The Ministry of Development issued a press release explaining that the portal is part of a 4 component- project, valued at 6 million euros. However, the amount of money spent for the website was not released yet.
