  • USA: SC.gov Web Portal Recognized for Excellence in Government Technology

    SC.gov’s Innovation Continues to Support Open Government in the Riverbanks Region

    The official state Web site for South Carolina (www.SC.gov) was recently awarded the 2008 Palmetto Pillar Award for Greatness in Technology in Government by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. This is the first year that SC.gov has received a Palmetto Pillar Award. The Technology in Government Award recognizes a company or organization for developing innovative technology-based projects and programs that enhance government operations in the Riverbanks Region.

  • USA: Ten federal programs named semifinalists for innovation award

    Programs in 10 agencies, including two e-government initiatives and two Justice Department programs, are semifinalists for one of the most highly prized public service awards.

    The ten are among 50 programs selected from all levels of government for the 18th annual Innovations in American Government Awards for creative thinking and results-driven goals.

    Maine, Indiana, Virginia, Delaware, and Arizona have the best state government Web sites in America, according to the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology in state and local government.
  • USA: Two More Awards for RI.gov Makes 2010 a Record-Setting Year

    Harvard University’s Ash Center and the Web Marketing Association Recognize RI.gov

    Two award recognitions in the third quarter of 2010 helped RI.gov set an all-time record for www.RI.gov. RI.gov received two prestigious recognitions, the Web Marketing Association’s WebAward for site excellence, and acceptance by Harvard University’s Ash Center into the Bright Ideas program for the State Department of Business Regulation’s Online Liquor Compliancy Service.

    “We’re delighted with the recognition RI.gov has received in 2010. Our design approach this year was to get back to basics and truly listen to the needs of our visitors. I’m proud of the results, and these awards are a great validation of our work,” said RI.gov’s Creative Design Director, Danny Chapman.

  • USA: Utah Department of Public Safety Website Wins National Customer Service Award

    The Utah Department of Public Safety, in partnership with Utah.gov, was awarded the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) Excellence in Customer Service Award. Utah was recognized as the first state to implement a centralized Public Safety Media Portal that communicates directly with media outlets and is constantly updated with public safety information. The Public Safety Media Portal helps increase citizen satisfaction by simplifying communication, consolidating information in one location, and making the service more convenient.

    “We are thrilled to be recognized by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrator’s and win this award for our continued citizen outreach efforts,” said Brian Hyer, Public Information Officer for the Department of Public Safety. “The new media portal helps us communicate much more effectively and proactively, which helps us advance our mission to serve and protect the citizens of Utah.”

    Utah.Gov's Business Portal Wins Second Place In the Best of the Web Nationwide Competition

    It's official: Utah has one of the best business Web sites in the nation. The state's official business portal (http://business.Utah.gov), took home second place among government-to-business online services in the 2004 Best of the Web competition for Digital Government Achievement.

  • USA: Utah Web portal earns top U.S. honor again

    The state's Web portal, Utah.gov, has earned first place in the 2007 Best of the Web competition sponsored by the National Center for Digital Government.

    The annual awards program recognizes the most innovative, user-friendly state and local government portals. Utah.gov was also awarded the honor in 2003, making Utah the only state to win the award twice.

  • USA: Utah.gov Receives Outstanding Customer Service Award

    Customer service and government may not always go hand in hand. But in Utah, they do. Utah's official Web site (www.Utah.gov) has earned top honors in the Government Customer Support Excellence Awards for the second straight year.

    Presented by the Government Contact Center Community of Practice, the awards spotlight the very best in government customer service in four categories: Teamwork, Technical Excellence, Customer Focus, and Overall Excellence. The judge's panel consists of three to four representatives from government and one from industry, and the judges individually screen all the nominations and then convene first to select finalists and then winners.

  • USA: Utah.gov Selected Winner of 2010 Government Customer Support Excellence Award

    The Official Website of the State of Utah (www.Utah.gov) Takes Home the Top Prize in Technical Excellence

    Utah’s official website (www.Utah.gov) and its customer support team were recently honored with the 2010 Government Customer Support (GCS) Excellence Award in the category of Technical Excellence – Utah.gov’s 3rd GCS Excellence Award. The GCS Excellence Awards are presented annually on behalf of Cgov Community of Practice (www.fedhelpdesk.roc.noaa.gov) to recognize government excellence in customer service.

    The awards spotlight the very best in government customer service in four categories: teamwork, technical excellence, customer focus, and overall excellence. Winners and other finalists are selected based upon independent scoring by a panel of judges from both the public and private sectors.

  • USA: Vermont’s Official Web Site Named Finalist for Best of the Web Award

    Governor Jim Douglas Announced today that Vermont’s official state portal Web site, Vermont.gov was named as a finalist for the 2009 Best of the Web contest, according to the Center for Digital Government’s annual award rankings announced Tuesday. The Web site is the primary online presence for all of Vermont state government, and won the award just the 2nd year after a comprehensive redesign was completed in September 2007. It is the first time Vermont has been ranked nationally in this competition.

    “We’re extremely excited to be ranked among the top 10 state government websites in the country,” said Governor Jim Douglas. “When we embarked on the website portal project in 2006, one of our main goals was to try to unite Vermonters with state government through a stronger web presence. Today, we are proud to offer Vermont.gov visitors access to many new and exciting features and technologies and look forward to offering even more in the coming years.”

  • USA: Virginia: Prince George's wins broadband award

    The Prince George's County government's Institution Network was awarded the "2008 Community Broadband Network of the Year Award "during the 28th National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors Annual Conference.

    "It is with great pride that I commend and congratulate the Office of Information Technology Director Tanya Gott and her staff for their tireless efforts and the hard work everyone invested in implementing the County's I-Net," said Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson. "We strive to be on the cutting edge of technology to better serve the residents and citizens of Prince George's County. This award certainly exemplifies that we are achieving high marks in this crucial area."

  • USA: Virginia’s Official Web Site Named Best in the Nation

    Governor Timothy M. Kaine announced recently that Virginia's official state Web site (www.Virginia.gov) has been named first in the nation in the Center for Digital Government's 2008 Best of the Web competition. This prestigious honor follows an extensive redesign of the Web portal, which uses colorful imagery to invite participation in online services and features new Web 2.0 social media functionality to enhance the user experience. The new Web site design went live this June.

    "Across Virginia, we are using information technology to develop innovative and cost-effective tools that improve customer service and support our management and business processes," said Governor Kaine. "These awards demonstrate our commitment to improving citizen service and smarter management of state government."

  • USA: West Virginia Education Portal Recognized Twice for Innovation in National Competitions

    The recently unveiled West Virginia Education portal (www.education.wv.gov) has been declared one of the best education Websites in the nation by the Centers for Digital Government and Education. The new portal was presented the 2008 Best of Web Special Award and the 2008 Digital Education Achievement Award based on its innovative approach to integrating more than 900 education resources into one centralized starting point located within the state’s official Website, www.wv.gov.

    “We were very pleased to finally see a state develop a comprehensive education component into their overall state Website strategy,” said Cathilea Robinett, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Government. “The West Virginia Education Portal takes the right approach to providing diverse online education resources to West Virginia’s citizens.”

  • USA: Westchester In Top 10 Digital County Governments

    Recognized for its innovative technology that is delivering quality service, Westchester County is in the list of “Top 10 Digital Governments,” according to the 2005 Digital Counties Survey, an annual study by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NACo).

    The county placed seventh in the 500,000 or more population category. The full list is at www.centerdigitalgov.com. The top-10 will be honored at NACo’s Annual Conference next month in Honolulu, Hawaii.

  • USA: www.Kansas.gov and Kansas Highway Patrol Win Award for Online Crash Logs

    The Government Solutions Center recently announced that the Kansas Highway Patrol's Online Crash Logs system is a Pioneer Award recipient. The Online Crash Logs service, which is available to the public through the state's official Web site at www.Kansas.gov, streamlines the Kansas Highway Patrol's process of recording and distributing crash information by reducing the amount of paperwork dispatchers must complete.

    Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced Utah.gov (www.utah.gov), the official Web site of the State of Utah, has won the 2008 Best of State award for Web-based Community Resource in the category of Community Development.

    Utah Best of State Awards recognize and promote outstanding individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Utah. Winners of the awards are judged on innovation, originality, and excellence in their field, and their impact on the community.

  • VN: Award promotes sustainable development of smart cities

    The Vietnam Smart City Award 2020 was officially launched online by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) on September 7, aiming to push for sustainable development of smart cities across the nation.

    At the event, VINASA Chairman Truong Gia Binh laid stress on the significance of smart city development, holding it is billed as one of the best tools to serve both people and businesses.
