The Office of Management and Budget has introduced an online tool that allows agencies to more effectively implement information technology.

Late last week, OMB announced, in a memorandum to all federal chief information officers and chief architects, the launch of the Federal Transition Framework. FTF consolidates policy and best practice guidance for implementing effective IT solutions. (The memo is available at www.egov.gov/ftf)

With 79 high-risk IT projects totaling about $2.2 billion in danger of running behind schedule or failing, congressional watchdogs said the Office of Management and Budget needs to sharpen the tools it uses to oversee and monitor agency IT spending.

In a report, the Government Accountability Office said OMB should consolidate its quarterly at-risk reports of IT projects—something GAO recommended last year—with its broader management watch list to supplement its analyses of agency IT performance.

Small businesses now have an online resource to find information on federal requirements relating to regulations, taxes and other paperwork, and agency contacts to answer specific questions, the Office of Management and Budget announced today.

In den USA spitzen sich die Auseinandersetzungen um Wahlcomputer wieder zu. With an index of 0.364, Vietnam jumped seven steps to rank 105 in terms of e-governance performance, according to the latest United Nations study analyzing the current status of e-government in the world.

The 2005 report by the UN Online Network in Public Administration and Finance (UNPAN) rated the Southeast Asian country the 112th position among 191 countries worldwide.

Initiative will put registration process under user control

Grants.gov is expanding the choice of credential service providers for agencies and users that post their grant opportunities and apply for federal money online.

Agencies will have three federally approved credential providers from which to choose their authentication services beginning Aug. 30. Grants.gov will be the first major e-government initiative to adopt the federal E-Authentication model.
