Das IfG.CC unterstützt die Konferenz "Zehn Jahre Memorandum 'Electronic Government als Schlüssel zur Modernisierung von Staat und Verwaltung'" am 01.10.2010 in Berlin. Die Veranstaltung wird gemeinsam mit dem Hochschulkolleg E-Government der Alcatel-Lucent-Stiftung, des Fachausschusses Verwaltungsinformatik der Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. und der Informationstechnischen Gesellschaft im VDE durchgeführt. Gesellschaft für Informatik fordert Ausbau

Mit großer Sorge beobachtet die Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) den Abbau der Verwaltungsinformatik in Deutschland. Trotz zukünftiger Herausforderungen bei der Umsetzung von öffentlichen Großprojekten wie der Einführung der Gesundheitskarte oder Ausweispapieren mit biometrischen Merkmalen werde das wissenschaftliche Fachgebiet der Verwaltungsinformatik an den Hochschulen zunehmend vernachlässigt.

Hände frei für englische Gesetzeshüter

Aus einer Kooperation von Archos und Cylon Systems, einem Hersteller für Sicherheitsüberwachungs-Systeme, entstand die Cylon HeadCam, eine am Kopf getragenen Kamera speziell für Sicherheitskräfte, Feuerwehren und Polizei. Das System zeichnet mit dem portablen digitalen Videorekorder AV 500 bis zu 12 Stunden hochqualitatives Videomaterial auf, das sofort auf dem integrierten 4"-Farb-LCD wiedergegeben werden kann. Der Benutzer hat dabei beide Hände für die Ausübung seiner Tätigkeit frei. Das System wird bereits von vielen Polizeitruppen in England verwendet.

India: MCA21 spells opportunity

The Ministry of Company Affairs (MCA) is implementing one of the largest e-governance projects, the MCA21. Four Registrar of Companies (RoC) have gone live with the project, and in the next couple of months companies across the country willbe required to file documents online with RoCs in compliance with the statutory provisions of the Act.

E-governance readiness in Gulf progressing: UN report

ICDL calls on govts to assess needs of IT literacy

E-governance readiness in the Gulf region has been ranked at approximately 50 percent by a recent index compiled in a report by the United Nations Department of Economic & Social Affairs (UNDESA), compared to 91 percent for index leading United States. ICDL GCC Foundation, the governing body and certification authority of the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) programme in the Gulf region called for further dissemination of IT literacy that would allow greater sectors of society access to online e-government services.

Bahrain's IT ranking falls

Bahrain's global position in e-government readiness slipped seven places last year in an index compiled by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). Bahrain lost ground on its 46th world ranking in 2004 and ended 53rd worldwide last year, according to the UNDESA's Global e-Government Readiness Report 2005: From e-Government to e-Inclusion.
