  • 84 pct Chinese can go out without cash: report

    About 84 percent of the Chinese people can accept going out without any cash, according to a report of mobile payment usage in China released by Chinese mobile payment solution Wechat Pay.

    The report 2017 Mobile Payment Usage in China was released Friday during the 3rd Asia-Pacific Regional Forums on Smart Cities and e-Government which was held in the north suburb of Bangkok.

  • BE: Launch of a website dedicated to electronic invoicing

    In January 2013, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Steven Vanackere, and the Minister for the Budget and Administrative Simplification, Olivier Chastel, announced the launch of a website on electronic invoicing to encourage its use and reach the EU target of making 50 % of invoicing electronically by 2020.

    Electronic invoicing constitutes a priority in the context of simplifying public administration. It is a modern, convenient, economical and reliable tool that not only allows public authorities to make savings on operating costs but also companies to reduce their administrative burdens.

  • Government Of India Launches eBiz Platform With Integrated Payment Gateway

    The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has launched an eBiz platform along with two Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) services and an integrated payment gateway.

    The eBiz project is part of the National eGovernance Plan of the Government of India. The project will provide an integrated electronic services to investors, industries and businesses in the areas of information on forms & procedures, licenses, permits, registrations, approvals, clearances, permissions, reporting, filing, payments and compliances throughout the life-cycle of an industry or business entity.

  • India Launches New Digital Payment System

    India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, recently launched e-RUPI, an electronic voucher promoting digital payment solutions. According to an official statement, it is a QR code or SMS string-based e-voucher, which is delivered to the mobile of the beneficiaries. The users of this seamless one-time payment mechanism will be able to redeem the voucher without a card, digital payments app, or Internet banking access at the service provider. Any government agency and corporation can generate e-RUPI vouchers via their partner banks.

    The e-RUPI initiative will be one of the programmes launched over the next few years to limit touchpoints between the government and the beneficiary and “ensure that the benefits reach its intended beneficiaries in a targeted and leak-proof manner”, according to the statement. The vouchers are person- and purpose-specific, which means that if they are released by the government COVID-19 vaccinations, for instance, then they can be redeemed only for that.

  • India Launches Tokenisation System to Boost Digital Payments Security

    The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced the launch of the NPCI Tokenisation System (NTS) that will support the tokenisation of RuPay cards as an alternative to storing card details with merchants. The NTS aims to enhance the safety of customers and provide a seamless shopping experience. NPCI is an umbrella organisation for operating retail payments and settlement systems owned under the country’s central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). RuPay is NPCI’s multinational financial services and payment service system.

    Card tokenisation replaces the details of a card, such as its number and CVV, which is used to make a transaction with an encrypted algorithmically generated token. The token is generated either by the card issuer or payments network, a report by the Mint explained. The process is expected to secure the sensitive financial data of customers and curb cyber fraud.

  • Indian Govt Launches New e-Payment Gateway

    The Indian Government has launched an e-payment system, which would facilitate direct credit of dues from the Government of India into the account of beneficiaries using digitally signed electronic advice (e-advice) through the ‘Government e-Payment Gateway’ (GePG). The system has been developed by the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), Department of Expenditure, and Ministry of Finance

    According to a statement by the Government, the Government e-Payment Gateway (GePG) is a portal which enables the successful delivery of payment services from Pay & Accounts Offices (PAOs) for online payment into beneficiaries’ accounts in a seamless manner under a secured environment.

    Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has strengthened its eServices package by adding the AutoPay feature, which enables automatic bill payment through the Dubai eGovernment payment gateway.

    The new feature encourages customers to use and adopt Dewa’s eServices, which will save time and effort as transactions can be accomplished electronically without visiting customer service centres.

    Online payments for services jump 21%

    Revenues from online payments across the government entities in Dubai jumped 21 per cent generating Dh2 billion in the first half of 2012 compared to Dh1.7 billion in the same period in 2011, Dubai eGovernment announced yesterday.

    The increase in the number of transactions from 1,396,973 in the first nine months of 2011 to 1,641,556 in the same period in 2012 reflects a shift in payment trends among Dubai residents, Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director-General of Dubai eGovernment said.

    Dubai’s Department of Finance (DoF) and Dubai Smart Government Establishment (DSG) have teamed up with Al Ansari Exchange to offer DubaiPay services on Al Ansari Exchange’s mobile app.

    According to state news agency WAM, Al Ansari Exchange’s customers can now use DubaiPay as an alternative payment option available on the app.

    Revenues from online payments across the government entities in Dubai jumped 23 per cent generating Dh3.2 billion in the last nine months of 2012 comparing to Dh2.6 billion the same period last year, Dubai eGovernment (DeG) announced on Tuesday.

    The increase in the number of transactions from 2,054,024 in the first nine months of 2012 to 2,448,147 transactions in the same period in 2012 reflects a shift in payment trends among Dubai residents, Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director-General of Dubai eGovernment said.

    The Zakat Fund and Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) held a press conference on the morning of 05/01/2011 at the headquarters of the Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi to launch the Zakat payment service via the Abu Dhabi e-Government Portal and sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of spatial data, designed to guide the well-wishers to the nearest Zakat payment or donations points in all fields and channels of goodness.

    This conference was attended by H.E. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of ADSIC, and H.E. Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al Muheiry, General Secretary of the Zakat Fund.

  • AE: Abu Dhabi: Ministry of Interior sees 134,000 online fine payment transactions in one year

    Payments made through ministry’s website and smartphone application

    Almost 134,000 fine payment transactions have been conducted via the Ministry of Interior smart application and its website between October 2014 and September this year.

    “Customers have several channels to pay their traffic obligations without needing to visit a service centre,” said Lt Col Faisal Mohammad Al Shimmari, Executive Director of the ministry’s Smart Government Programme. “Customers are able to access their inquiries regarding traffic fines or traffic files for individuals and businesses.”

    The Ajman Transport Authority in the UAE is working with BPC to implement the integrated open-loop smart cities platform O-City on public transport buses.

    The city of Ajman in the United Arab Emirate (UAE) of Ajman is digitising public transport payments through the O-City smart cities platform.

    The Ajman Transport Authority is partnering with payments solution provider BPC to implement the system on its bus fleet.

  • AE: Ajman Government To Enact 'Smart Payment System'

    H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, issued Emiri Resolution No. 05 for 2019, regarding the Ajman Government’s, 'Smart Payment System', JMANPAY, which will be in force from the date of its issuance.

    The Department of Finance will be responsible for managing and operating the system.
