  • Brunei: Government Staff Complete ICT Course

    Forty-two staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Defence, the Defence information Technology Unit (MTH) and the Defence Ministry Office and Directorate of Strategic Planning received their certificates Saturday afternoon upon completion of their training at de' Heritage IT Training Scbool.

    The guest of honour, Awang Jaini bin Haji Abdullah, the Director at the Department of information and Communication Technology at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, handed over the certificates to course participants at a ceremony held at the Riverview Hotel in Gadong.

    In alignment with the e-government initiative and the Ministry of Education’s ongoing commitment to digital transformation, the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, announced the launch of a new electronic platform named “Takamul.” In a recent press statement, Prof. Al-Adwani detailed how Takamul aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of project management within the Ministry of Education. The platform will display statistics from various reports and convert them into digital indicators.

  • Schweiz: Fachhochschulen lancieren gemeinsames Executive Masters für E-Business

    Die Ecademy, das Kompetenznetz der Schweizer Fachhochschulen für E-Business & eGovernment, bietet ab März 2004 ein internationales Executive Masters-Programm für Führungskräfte an. Das Studium ist ein Novum für die Schweiz: Beteiligt sind sechs Schweizer Fachhochschulen und zwei US-amerikanische Universitäten.
  • USA: OPM to issue governmentwide IT training guidance

    The Office of Personnel Management plans to call soon for governmentwide training standards for information technology employees. And it will work with the federal IT community this fall to develop training policies.

    OPM Director Kay Coles James revealed this in a written response to a new Government Accountability Office report critical of the way agencies train their IT workers. According to GAO, agencies make limited use of best practices for training information technology employees and they cite funding and time constraints as major obstacles.
