Transforming Government since 2001
Information about 2006 real estate taxes is now available on the Douglas County government’s Web site.

Property owners can check to see how much in real estate taxes they owe and make sure that a tax payment has been received by the county treasurer’s office.

“If you are looking at buying property and want to know what your monthly costs would be, you can check to see the amount of taxes,” Treasurer Paula Gilchrist said.

The Web site is www.douglas-county.com. Under the e-government section on the home page you can click on “online value and tax information” to access the annual tax amount due and a record of payments made. Also included are any special taxes, such as those for sidewalks and sewers.

Payment information is updated daily, Gilchrist said. The information can be accessed by using an address or parcel number, but not by name.

The first half of county real estate taxes were due Dec. 20. If half or full payment has not been made, then interest and penalty have been added. These additional charges are not available online but may be obtained by calling the treasurer’s office at 832-5178.
